Chapter Two (part 1)

Isabella

The sight of Daniel sent a shiver down Isabella's spine, almost instantly, her legs felt like jelly, the hair at the nape of her neck stood erected, and her heart felt like it was in a five thousand mile race with the throbbing pain at the back of her head, driving her up the wall- as if challenging her sanity. She exhaled silently, trying to calm herself, shifting her mind elsewhere. She would try this time, to avoid him. She didn't care if it killed her; she would die trying then. No, she thought firmly to herself- she wouldn't even die. Not this time. It was time for her to put her foot down. Enough was enough.

I wonder if she'll be fine if I ask her out tonight. Neil's thought disrupted hers. She blinked a few blinks in shock, then composed herself, masking her shock with... indifference. This was normal, she knew she was pretty and had most of the guys in school drooling over her. She knew that majority of the girls around her were dead jealous of her- their thoughts weren't exactly heart warming. And she also knew that not a single soul in this school knew about her one not-so-little secret. What? That she could read minds? No, no... It was much bigger than that.

What the hell happened to her arm? Huh, I'm impressed Bells. So, you really did won that friendly skateboard match. Austen snorted as he sat next to her, throwing some of her fries into his mouth. Friendly, my ass. "Looks like we've gotten ourselves a badass over here!" he howled and Isabella rolled her eyes.

"Is it true?" Lindsay, one of the cheerleaders, her friend, asked nosily from across the table. Her cat like green eyes were wide with curiosity and burnt with only one message behind them; tell me what happened and so I can yap however the fuck I want to the entire student body. Bella raised a brow questioningly, trying not to react to her bitter thoughts. "Did you fracture your arm skateboarding?" she persisted.

Isabella grinned and shook her head. She couldn't help but let out a small giggle when she saw how their faces fell a little, somehow disappointed. "Actually, I went long boarding." She said and Marie perched in.

"I didn't know you long board!" she gapped at her and again, Isabella let out a laugh. But not at her, just her thoughts. Oh, the snobbish people around her were so humouring!

Of course she does! She spat venomously. Little miss perfect isn't she? Ugh, such an attention whore! Look at that, the guys are head over heels for her! Austen is practically drooling! SKANK!

Isabella stepped out of her 'friend's' mind- tuning her out completely. "Of course, you don't. Actually, it's almost the same with skateboarding, really." She said simply and smiled innocently, knowing exactly how much she was infuriating the cheerleader. It took Isabella all her willpower not to laugh at the girl's expression; eyes wide and filled with profound envy. She grinned and almost lost it but Lisa interrupted her train of thought.

Ugh, I'm not surprise if Grigori came right up and asked her out! Look at him, staring her down! What does he see in her? She's not as pretty as I am, obviously! Doesn't even have the curves! Huh, she had always known Lisa wasn't much of a nice person. She just didn't know why she hadn't noticed it before. Lisa nudged her playfully then added, "Daniel Grigori is checking you out again," with an all too fake giggle.

Isabella felt her cheeks burning and once again, her heart sped off into that hundred mile race. She tried not to look up at him, as tempting as it was, and prayed silently for her to remain as she was- and not run into those strong arms of his and have them wrapped around her. Just the thought of his touch drove her half mad with desire and longing. She let out a small breath, feeling his gaze on her then immediately, she blocked out all the familiar feelings, welcoming indifference.
