*TONI'S PERSPECTIVE*
Cheryl and I used to be best friends, like we were connected at the hip. Everyone knew about us and they were practically jealous of our friendship. We did everything together and told each other all of our secrets. Until one day, it all changed.

Cheryl started dating a boy called Brett. He had always gone to Riverdale High but no one knew of him until he became the Captain of the Football Team. With Cheryl being Captain of the Cheerleading Squad it was basically a match made in heaven, right?
They both saw their chance and over time they went on a few occasional dates to Pop's. Everyone in the school knew that they were together, although they never confirmed it.

Cheryl told me that it wouldn't effect our friendship but we both knew it would. Instead of her hanging out with me everyday after school, she would hang out with Brett. Eventually, we stopped texting and talking at school and she rarely even liked my photos on Instagram anymore. I'd always make an effort to speak to her around the corridors but when she ever answered me (which wasn't a lot) it would be a blunt answer, like yes or no, or just a nod or shake of her head.

Before i knew it, Cheryl was back to her old self. She would walk around looking down on people or making rude, unnecessary comments about everything she saw.

I never liked Brett. Although he was raised on the North Side, he definitely had a dark side to him. He thought he was better than everyone he laid an eye on and treated Cheryl like his property. Despite that, Brett and Cheryl were the attractive power couple, like the kind you see in movies.

I was best friends with Cheryl for months meaning i could read her like a book. I knew when she wasn't happy, or when she faked a smile or forced a laugh. I could see it in her eyes when she walked past in the hallway, that she didn't want to be there- with him. He had a bad reputation too. He cheated on almost every other girlfriend he had. Back in the early days of their relationship, i tried to talk some sense into Cheryl but she never listened. I was trying to protect her but i guess she didn't want my help.

There was a secret that only Cheryl and I knew of. It happened on the night that Veronica and I rescued her from the Sisters of Quiet Mercy. We both searched the building until i found Cheryl, sat watching an old tape in a room full of other people. When she noticed me, she ran into my arms. It must of happened in the heat of the moment, but we kissed. Before we had time to acknowledge what we did, Cheryl, Veronica and I were already bolting to the door to escape. And we have never spoken about what happened since... and i don't think we ever will. That night has always stayed on my mind but i never bought it up since i just assumed Cheryl was embarrassed about it. And just few weeks after the rescue mission, Cheryl and Brett began dating so i felt like the kiss meant nothing to her anyway and i had learned to live with that.

I snapped out of my day dream just in time to watch the couple make their way through the corridor in front of Jughead and I. I watched as Brett wrapped his arm around Cheryl and they both held their head up high, smiling at everyone they walked past. It all seemed like it was happening in slow motion. Cheryl glanced at me, but her expression didn't change. I was just another school pupil to her.

"Stuck ups..." Jughead murmured.
