Chapter 1 Job
Kaitlin's POV
I woke up to the sun streaming through the window at 8 o'clock in the morning. After 30 minutes of not being able to fall back asleep I decide to get up. I throw the warm blankets off of me and feel the rush of cold air hit me. I walk to my closet and pick out my outfit for the day. I chose blue skinny jeans and a purple lace shirt with a purple tank top underneath. I walked to my bathroom and took a nice warm shower. When I was done I got dressed and went downstairs.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Kaitlin Renee Thompson, but most people call me Katie. I have long brown hair with natural red, gold, and black highlights. I have brown eyes that change color depending on my mood. I have freckles and I am kind of short. I am 16 and love music. Now back to reality.
"Good morning sweetie" my father said to me as I walked into the kitchen.
"Morning" i reply as I grab an apple from the bowl on the table.
"Your mother and I are going out on a business trip for 4 weeks and since it's summer we would like for you to get a job so that you won't be stuck in this house."
"When do you leave?" I ask
"Tomorrow night at 6, we will be checking in on you so don't do anything stupid" my mother said
"Ok, well I'm going to find a job because apparently I have no life" I say laughing.
"That's not what we meant Katie, call us if you need anything" my mother said.
I grab my bag and my keys and walk out to my blue bug. I drive into town and pull into my favorite place, a small cafe called "Mimi's Cafe". The owner of the cafe is a close friend of my moms, and I have been told countless times before that she would love to hire me.
"Kaitlin is that you, I haven't seen you in weeks!" Mimi said.
"Yes it's me Mimi, I have been studying for final exams so I haven't had time to stop by" I explained.
"Well at least your here now, so what can I do for you Katie?" Mimi asked, so I explained everything that happened this morning with my parents and how I have to get a job.
"Well Katie you are welcome to work here, and you can start now you already know what to say because of how often you come. Grab an apron from the back and you can work the register." Mimi says as she walks me to the back room. She hands me a green apron that says "Mimi's Cafe" in a light blue oval.
"Here you go, now let's go to the register and get you started". After hours of work Mimi says its time for the cafe to close.
"Thank you so much Mimi, my parents will be happy to hear I got a job like they wanted!" I say.
"Anything for you Katie, could you come in tomorrow at 7 to open?" Mimi asks.
"Of course I'll be here, I love this cafe!"
"I will make sure you are off in time to say goodbye to your parents." Mimi says.
"Thank you! Goodnight Mimi see you tomorrow!" I say as I get into my bug and drive home.
