You had been tossing up for hours whether or not you would say something to him, you didn't want to piss him off but you were worried for him. You've lived across the street from the Hargrove's house for a while now & couldn't help but notice what Billy's father was doing to him behind closed doors & had been tossing up whether or not to ask if he needed help. He was a grade A douchebag but you couldn't help but feel for the guy, no one deserves that. With a deep breath in you decided that you were going to go over there & talk to him before his dad got home. You rushed out the door & across the street, before you could stop yourself you were knocking, the door opened almost immediately & there stood Billy in all his glory.
"can I help you?" he asked looking a little annoyed that you were on his door step. You couldn't blame the guy though you did punch him in front of the whole school but then maybe he shouldn't have made a move on you the day after he slept with your friend.
"yeah um, can we talk?" you asked suddenly regretting your decision. He moved out of the door way & held his arm out as a gesture for you to come in. "look I'm sorry about punching you it's just—"
"I know-" he cut you off "your little friend was running around telling everyone that we slept together the day before." he said bitterly.
You frowned at the thought that it didn't happen but pushed it down that was an issue for another time.
"so where's your room?" you asked trying to make the question not sound suggestive.
"why? Change your mind?" he chuckled, you wirled around & rolled your eyes at the boy.
"no Billy, I need to talk to you about something..in private." you placed your hand on your hip & raised your eyebrows at him, as he walked past you, you followed him through the hallway of the house & stepped inside a small room.
"can you make this quick I was just in the middle of a work out." he sighed.
"yeah look, there's no easy way to start this so I'm just going to say it." you took a deep breath in before continuing wondering one last time if it was the right thing to do "Billy I know about your dad." you rushed out his eyes went wide for a moment before they settled back into their normal expressionless deminor.
"so?" he said bluntly.
"do you need help? you can crash at my place if you want? My parents are never home they're always super busy." you said as you looked around the room.
"I don't need your pity, (y/n)" his tone never faltered from the blunt tone he was using before.
"it's not pity, I just thought you may need help." you tried to assure him.
"I don't need help from some rich bitch that lives across the street." he chuckled bitterly.
"Okay ouch but okay, I get that you know nothing about me so I could assume that's all you would see." you said his words felt like a bitch slap if only he knew what went on behind closed doors when your parents were home.
"please, don't try to make out that you don't have it perfect. you get literally everything you want & all you have to do is bat your eyelashes at daddy." he scoffed.
"right well, if that's what you think then fine. I was just trying to help." you said as you began to exit the room. He was blocking the doorway though the way your father did when he was mad, making you cower back slightly.
"I don't want your help, I don't want your pity & I certainly don't want you in my house." he said.
"then get out of my way." you scoffed at him, he didn't budge though which made you think he didn't want you to leave. "look Billy do you want me gone or not?" you sighed.
"yes." he said clenching his jaw.
"then move Billy." you said trying to stay calm.
"what's that on your neck." he asked as he pointed to the bruises around your neck.
"oh um hickeys." you said nervously, you tried to make it sound like a statement but it came out more as a question.
"those aren't hickeys I know what hickeys are & those-" he pointed at them again as he took a step forward "aren't it."
"well you mustn't be the playboy you make yourself out to be because they are." you retorted not wanting to talk about how they got there or what they really were.
"what's your truamer?" he asked.
Your eyes widened at the comment but it didn't surprise you that he knew.
"I don't want to talk about it." you said in a small voice.
"but you expect me to?" he asked.
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have come over." you said quietly. You rushed past him this time & back home.

Billy watched you leave with sad understanding eyes & couldn't help but think who could harm someone as beautiful as you were. He clucked his tongue at the thought & headed out the door only to be met by his father.

Later that night you heard yelling from the Hargrove House, it wasn't any different from most other nights but you couldn't help but wonder if Billy was going to be okay. The yelling soon stopped & the quiet broken by the sound of a slamming door, you waited to hear Billy speed off in his car as he usually did but instead you heard a knock on your front door. You raced to open it & rush him inside, when you did you saw the bruise already forming over his eye & winced.
"come to the kitchen, I'll get you some ice." you said as you walked in the direction of the kitchen.
He lent against the kitchen bench & watched as you got a packet of peas from the freezer. You placed them over his eye & took a breath in. "stupid question but I'm going to ask it anyway. are you okay?" you asked.
"I'm fine." he said quietly. You searched his eyes for a moment before moving away.
"I was just making dinner, you want some?" you asked, trying to fill the silence.
"I'm not hungry." he said "but thanks." you were surprised at the manners but didn't say anything.
"yeah I'm not so hungry now either." you mumbled.
"was it your dad or your mum?" he asked. When you didn't reply he pushed a little further "that did that to your neck." you let out a shaky breath and braced yourself on the counter across from him.
"my dad." you answered bluntly. He gave a slow nod but said nothing.
"it doesn't matter though, it's my fault I shouldn't push when he & my mum get back from their business trips." you sighed.
"it's not your fault, I don't know how he could do that to you..you're—" he cut himself off & didn't say anything for a moment.
"I'm what?" you asked curiously ticking your head to the side slightly.
"perfect." he mumbled.
You're eyes widened at the confession & your mouth parted slightly as you looked him in the eye. It was like you were seeing him for the first time, he wasn't that guy who slept around or was mean to his sister. He was just a broken boy who was a little lost, a lot like yourself. You then began notice the colour of his eyes, the shape of his mouth & his jaw line. You sucked a sharp breath in when you realised what was beneath the surface & what was on the surface.
"I should go." he said bluntly as he put the packet of peas on the bench & headed for the door.
"Billy wait!" you called out after him as you ran around the corner. He turned slowly & looked at you. "don't go, you can stay here the night if you want? I've got a spare blanket & pillow upstairs, you can stay in my room." his lips parted slightly & he nodded. You offered him a small smile & motioned for him to follow you upstairs.
