Part Ten

Neil led Avni on the bed, he put his fingers on her wrist, her pulse was normal and her body didnt seem to hot or to cold
Grabbing his phone he called Joseph and explained the situation, asking him to bring a doctor as soon as possible.
He sat next to her, his head swarming, had Avni only cried for him because being back here was a reminder or had Joseph lied the whole time?

"Avni will wake up soon and in that time you need to be gone"
Neil shook his head "She misses me, why cant I be here"
"Because Neil, we are happy together you coming back will only ruin that"
Neil stood up slowly, his fist clenched "Happy together, thats my wife you" Neil raised his hand and punched him across the face
Joseph wiped his mouth "You want her to be happy dont you, you think if you come back you will be helping, you'll make it harder and she will hate you"

Neil didnt want to make Avni sad, he had no reason to think Joseph was lying, so he would leave, but only when he knew Avni was okay "Fine, but if you ever hurt a hair on her body, I will kill you and I wont regret it, you understand" he grabbed his collar and pulled him closer to his face
Joseph glared back at him, neither backing down, Neil let go of Joseph's jacket and stood back

Avni sat up on the bed, her head was spinning.
She was so sure she had saw Neil, heard his voice. She stood up slowly and made her way to the bedroom door
"Avni, you're awake" said Joseph
Avni nodded "I um, did you bring me here or"
Joseph nodded, Avni looked down trying not to break down again, she wasnt sure why she had thought that Neil had brought her here, but clearly she was wrong

Joseph pushed her shoulders back "You really need to rest"
Avni shook her head "No, I dont have time to rest, I am here and I want to give my husband the peace he deserves, I wont rest until I have done that, excuse me" she shoved past him and walked out onto the balcony, she stopped outside, taking a deep breath and then ran down the stairs
She walked up the winding road, stretching out her hand, she grabbed her phone and called for a taxi to take her back to her hotel

Avni stopped the taxi, she payed the man and got out, the rain was heavy but that didnt seem to matter, she walked slowly across the road, she stood to the side when she heard a car beep its horn
Today was the day she would face the man who had the biggest hand in her husbands death, it didnt seem to matter how long it had been since Neil had been dead, every day was just as painful as the last

She looked up at the sky, the clouds a stromy grey, the rain had soaked her clothes, but she didnt care anymore, nothing seemed important when Neil wasnt around. Her eyes moved to infront of her, she paused on the busy road.
The man who had looked at her in the mall stood facing her
"Hey, wait" she shouted and ran after him as fast as her legs could carry her
She stopped in the alleyway, unable to see him anymore, when she turned back around she stopped still

Neil looked at Avni, drenched from the rain, she shivered slightly, her eyes a dark red
"Who are you" she asked
Neil closed his eyes, her voice so melodic and calming, it had been to long without her
Avni didnt want to fight today and realised the only way out was past the man
In full honesty if something happened to her, no one would care for long, "Dont come near me, if you touch me youll pay for it"
Neil clenched his fist, as Avni spoke again "My husband would go mad" her laugh was bitter making Neil even more angrier

Were Joseph and Avni married now?
Avni looked down, if Neil were here, he would go mad if she was hurt, and that was the only thing that kept her from being in harms way, she didnt want to upsett him, even if he was no more
"Husband" Neil growled, ensuring his voice sounded different
"Yes, if you touch me, he will make sure you pay"
Neil shook his head, it hurt like nothing else to think his wife was with someone else now, but what could he expect

"I would like to see him try" he whispered menacingly, the scarf over his face muffling his words
Avni stepped forward "Why are you wearing sunglasses"
Neil chose not to answer "Run back to your husband, this place isnt safe"
"How I wish I could" she muttered sadly, then looked down at her watch, she was going to be late meeting Daai and she couldnt afford to miss this opportunity
"Are you working for Daai, is that why you keep following me"
Neil shook his head "Why would someone working for him be after you" he spoke into his scarf

"Because I want him dead, he wants me dead, is that why youre here"
Neil stepped closer, Avni was in danger and that did not sit well with him
"Ya ibn el sharmouta" (son of a bitch) he muttered angrily and grabbed Avni's wrist
Avni looked at his hand on her wrist "What are you doing"
Neil looked back at her angrily "Getting you to safety, its what your husband would want"
Avni let him drag her along, finally catching up with him she couldnt help the happy tears that made their way down her face

"You knew my Neil" she asked
He stopped in his tracks, the whole time she was talking about him.
"Can you tell me more about him, I didnt really learn a lot" her eyes lit up with excitement
Neil cleared his throat "Arent you happy in your new relationship"
Avni looked taken back "I would never get in another relationship, what makes you think im with someone else"
"Joseph"
Avni laughed, making Neil smile, it had been to long since she had laughed or even smiled "No, ew" she shook her head

Neil raised his hand to his glasses and took them off
He pulled his scarf down and smiled "Hello habibi"
