As I return from classes, my usual journey consisted of picking up baked goods at my local bakery for my roommate and I to ensure our ability of lasting the whole week. I casually approach the apartment building, consisting of seven floors and approached one of my neighbors in the lobby floor, Ally Brooke.
"Well, hello!" Ally brightly smiled, as I quickly glanced at what she carried in her arms, which appeared to be items for her classroom.
"Hi, Ally. How are you?" I returned the smile, running my fingers through my ruffled hair, creating a messier hairstyle than usual.
"Good! My kids were perfect angels. How are you doing with college?" Ally pressed her level, and shortly after, I did too.
"Nothing new.. I just grew tons of grey hair," I teased, but a hint of truth behind my voice.
"Only got three years left, don't you worry. It'll be worth it, Lauren!" Ally replied excitedly, although I find a bit of inspiration in order to pursue my degree in Psychology. She's the type of person you'd talk to for anything, she's completely honest and caring.
"Thanks, Ally." I grinned, leaning back on the railing and hearing the elevator ding to indicate her floor.
"Goodbye, don't worry too much!" Ally assured me, stepping out of the elevator and leaving me alone with my thoughts.
Once I stepped into the apartment, Normani's voice reels me back to reality.
"You bought them!" She squeals, quickly taking the bag from my hand and I shake my head, giggling at her reaction.
"Oh yeah, I missed you too.." I speak, my sentence dripping with sarcasm and kicking off my shoes, neatly placing them on the rack.
"Girl, I see you every single day." Mani throws a face towards me, opening the box and taking one of our favorites.
"True, but we're apart for a few hours." I smirk, sitting down beside her and picking out a croissant filled with chocolate.. then I'll regret about my food choice later, work it off.
"You're so dramatic. Why did I move in with you again?" Normani quizzes me, trying to stop herself from laughing.
"You love me, that's why. I'm good at cleaning, cooking, and plus I even buy you food because I care about you." I list all my reasons, probably leaving some out, and smile widely.
"Touche." She replies, before standing up and grabbing her bag.
"See, plus you're going to work now, which means you should miss me. You leave when I arrive." I frown, as Normani starts to head towards the door.
"I have a day off on Saturday. Love you!" She laughs, and when she leaves, it fades away.
The apartment is quiet and cold, without Normani's lively personality filling up the room, I'd rather procrastinate than complete my assignments. I grab my phone, clicking onto the Twitter app, and checking my notifications.
