Chapter 16

'It's been two weeks since I shifted. I'm still struggling to grasp the fact that I'm a werewolf but it's getting easier each day. Jaiden has been really patient with me, and teaches me something new each day. Surprisingly we haven't heard anything from David, it's like he just disappeared. But I can't say that I'm complaining.

            "Violet? Where are you?" I heard Jaiden call throughout the house. I sighed and clicked off the TV. I was re-watching my favorite show, Supernatural, I was on season 7 were Sam and Becky got married in Vegas.

            "I'm in here" I replied and waited for him to walk in. When he finally did, I lost my breath. He never fails to do that. No matter how many times I see his beautiful eyes and defined jaw, I still lose my breath, and by his smirk he knows that.

            "Like what you see" He teased, smirking slightly at me. Well two can play that game.

            "Actually I've seen better... There was this one guy, in fact I still talk to him, he was by far hotter than you" I teased and almost laughed as his jaw tensed and his eyes blazed in anger.

            "YOU ARE MINE" He growled and pulled me to his chest and slammed his lips onto mine. He flipped us around so that I was pressed against the wall and was flush against him. This kiss was anything but sweet; it was like he was trying to prove to me who I belong to in just one kiss. I ran my hands through his hair and he trailed his hands up and down my back. He suddenly yanked my legs up, so that they were around his waist. I became very aware, as his hands slid up my thighs, of the sparks spreading through my body, like wildfire, and I couldn't stop it. Jaiden bit my lip slightly, causing me to moan quietly. He broke away from my lips and trailed kisses down my neck, placing a well-aimed kiss on my mark. I shuddered slightly and pulled his lips back up to mine. He groans silently and pulls away. I whimper slightly as the heat takes over my body. I am still battling it and we are beginning to think that it will never go away.

            "As much as I enjoy this, we need to stop before I lose control," He whispers huskily and rests his forehead against mine. I let out a deep sigh and close my eyes, enjoying the feeling of his head resting on mine. Our little moment was suddenly interrupted by someone barging into the room,

            "Alpha, we have a problem." Cole, his gamma, gasps out and nearly passes out from exhaustion. I step forward and rest my hand on his shoulder,

            "Cole calm down. I need you to take deep breaths and tell us what's wrong." I say soothingly

            "David has contacted us. He wants you, Violet, and he says that he's going to get you, no matter what." He says weakly. Jaiden lets out a loud growl that shook the house and yanked me into his chest.

            "LIKE HELL HE'S GETTING HER" He yells. His eyes are staring to change from his crystal blue to a dark grey. He roughly pulls in for a kiss, as if the one kiss is going to prove to David that I am Jaiden's, not his. I pull away from the kiss, being mindful of our company.

            "Jaiden you being mad is not going to help anything" I whisper and rub my hands up and down his chest, trying to calm him down.

            "I want guards watching her until we catch the bastard. If she even so much as steps a foot out of this house, then I want the guards to lock her in her room." Jaiden growls angrily.

            "When hell freezes over. You're not putting me on house arrest." I say calmly and confidently. He will have to chain me to the bed before I will even consider the idea.

            "You don't have a choice in this." Jaiden snaps at me

            "Let me rephrase this... if you put me on house arrest I will never say another word to you again," My words fell on deaf ears. I sighed and closed my eyes and said the words that I knew I would regret later, "And I will leave you."

            The silence that followed about drove me to madness. The look on Jaiden's face shattered my heart to pieces; he looked completely helpless, like little kid who's lost something special to them. I knew how he felt. The mere thought of leaving Jaiden nearly sent me into cardiac rest, but I couldn't sacrifice my freedom for his sanity.

            "But I can't lose you" He whispered, and closed his eyes tightly. Cole was watching us anxiously. I gave him a slight nod, silently saying that he had permission to leave. He quickly walked out, leaving us by ourselves.

            "I know this is hard for you, but you've got to understand that I have a life to. You can have protective detail on me, that's fine, but I can't spend my life cooped up in this house until you catch David." I say gently and wrapped my arms around him, leaning into him. He slightly nuzzled my hair before nodding.

            "Ok, but please be careful. I don't know what I would do without you." He begged, and let me tell you, a big scary alpha, with striking blue eyes, begging you, will make just about anybody swoon. I pushed my lips against his and got lost in the kiss. The kiss was a whole lot softer than the previous one, the other one was possessive and sexy, but this one is so painstakingly sweet and gentle that I feel like I'm going to melt into a puddle at his feet.

             After a couple of minutes kissing like this, something in me snapped. I am sick of him being gentle and cautious with me. He seemed to notice my frustration because he shoved me against the wall and I wrapped my legs around his waist. He groaned and pressed me against the wall harder.

            "Why do you make this so hard for me" He groaned and tried to pull away.

            "You are Not. Doing. This. I'm going crazy and you always pull away. So stop being a coward." I say bluntly and pull his lips back onto mine.

            "Are you sure your ready" He breathed out and started to trail kisses down my neck, all I could manage was a nod.
