Destiny Untold

Chapter 1

Today was a fairly normal day. I was helping to watch some of the village children. They were currently sitting around me as I told them a story about dragons. Ever since my older brother Merlin left for Camelot, Ealdor has been pretty quiet and quite boring. When he was here, he and Will would always run around and cause trouble. Im sort of glad he left though. Now that he is in Camelot, he will be able to learn how to harness and use his magic with the help of Gaius. Id rather he be safe than have me be entertained.

As I was telling the story, I heard horse hooves and saw Kanen and his men approaching. I ushered the children to their parents before he got here. Their parents would want to have them nearby. When he came, everyone became quiet.

"Find him!" He bellowed to his men. They were breaking into homes and pushing anybody who got in their way. I stood next to my mother, Hunith, as he dragged a man who I soon realized to be Mathew out of his home. He was holding two sacks of food and a basket. As he was pushed down, he was pushed to the ground and the sacks were taken from him.

"Is that all?" Asked Kanen. I felt anger blaze inside of me. That was enough food to sustain us for a couple of days or maybe even weeks if we rationed them properly. It seemed so little to him but it was so much for us. I wanted to march up to him more than anything but I knew that wouldn't be wise. I had to watch out for my mother. I can't risk getting myself fatally wounded or killed.

"I only kept back what we need to survive." Mathew said.

"Survive?" Kanen said as if amused. One day I am going to wipe that bloody smirk off of him. He doesn't care about our well being. All he cares about are his crops.

"Ill be back in one week, farmer, and I want to see all of it." I couldn't stand to watch this anymore. By taking away our food, he was letting little children starve to death. Forgetting about the consequences, I marched up to Kanen.

"You can't to this!" I told him furiously and also a bit worriedly. "You can't take away our food! Our children will starve. I won't let you do this. You are not taking any of it." I said, my voice rising to a yell by the time I got to his horse. I tried to take the sacks when he punched me on the right side of my face. My mother was screaming as she ran up to me. I, on the other hand, was on the ground. Mother and Mathew knelt beside me as another man yelled my name. He was shot before he could get to me.

"One week farmer." He said to Mathew before turning to me. "Ill see you later darling." I scowled up at him an was about to say something before my mother shot me a warning glare. With that, Kanen rode off with his men. When he was gone, Will ran up to me.

"What were you thinking?!?! You could have gotten yourself killed?!?!" He said as he helped me up. My face hurt a lot but I ignored it. I was looking at Kanen ride off with hate all over my face.

"That man has been harassing us for a while. Im tired of just standing around. One day, he is going to be the death of me but I swear, if I go down, I'm bringing him down with me." I scowled. If I had Merlins powers, I would have been able to finish both Karen and his men with a couple of spells but I didn't. Plus, even if I did have magic, mother would forbid me from using it. It was her voice that broke me out of my sort of trance.

"Come inside, Alison. We need to put some cold water on that." She said, referring to the spot Kanen struck my face. I just nodded and went back into our hut. It was small but it was home. Mother was putting cold water on my face when I spoke up again.

" We need help."

"King Candid isn't going to help us. He doesn't care for us." My mother said with a sigh

"I meant from Camelot. Merlin is there. I might be able to get an audience with the king and ask him for help. Ill beg him if I have to" I said determined. Merlin might be able to help me. After all, Merlin told me in letters that he was Prince Arthurs servant.

"I don't know...."

"Please mum. Let me go to Camelot." I begged, eyes big.

"Alright." She said defeatedly. "Ill help you pack for the journey there." With that, she stood up and went to make me some food for the journey. I took a small bag with the food and was on my way to Camelot. 

Hello! So this is my first Merlin fanfic! I am going to be updating a new chapter about every two weeks. At the end of every chapter, I will put the date of when my new update will be up. Chapter Two will be uploaded on Saturday March 3rd, 2018. 

I also want to get to know my readers better so I will be asking a question at the end of every chapter.
