Avni looked up at the huge palace surrounding them, Neil grasped her hand tightly "This is your home now"
Avni looked up at the many different paintings on the walls around them and gulped, she wasnt sure where she would fit in this palace, or where she would fit with him
He stood very closely behind her, his fingers tracing her right arm
"What are you thinking habibi"

"What does that mean" his musky scent was doing to many things to her at once so she pulled away from him which made him frown
"My love" his eyes held hers in an intense gaze but his face showed sincerity
"Are you sure this match will work, I mean I dont feel as if I am suited to you"
"What makes you say that, did someone say something" his fist clenched by his side
Avni shook her head "No, I just dont feel like I could fit in with the rich, I dont know anything about your culture and I cant speak your language"

Neil frowned and cupped her face, making her freeze, "I will teach you, you will fit perfectly here I know it"
"I" getting caught up in Neil's gaze she forgot what she was going to say
A knock on the door made Neil pull away
Avni watched as Neil's face turned serious as he turned to see the man who came to the door
"How is your wife, I came to see her"
Neil's gaze darkened "You know how disrespectful it is to ask me how my wife is"

He stepped forward towards the man and Avni wrapped her hand around his arm
He turned to face her and she shook her head, as if her touch could calm him he stepped back and took a deep breath "Get out"
The man laughed before walking away
"Who was that man"
Neil shook his head "nobody important"
"Please tell me"
"My cousin, we dont get on very well, its disrespectful here to ask a man about his wife and he knows it"
Avni bit into her lip making Neil's eyes darken before he shook his head and stepped away to regain some control over himself

"Tell me about yourself"
Avni was shocked to see that Neil was interested in her
"Well I was born here years ago, but my parents both died in a car crash, then I was in an orphanage but the woman who raised me taught me hindi and I learnt english in school, I always had dreams of working as a social worker"
Neil noted how passionate she looked when she spoke of her career
"But I suppose I cant do that now"

"Why not"
"Because I am your wife, my duties lie here with you"
Neil shook his head rapidly "You are my wife, not my prisoner, I want you to have a life you want"
Neil closed his eyes and pressed a kiss to her forehead "Beautiful" he whispered making her blush
"But wouldn't the people be angry"
Neil turned her to face him, "Let me deal with them"
Avni was overcome with emotion and wrapped her arms around his waist "thank you so much"

Neil looked down at Avni in his arms and wrapped an arm around her waist, his other hand lifted and pulled her hair down from the band it was in, her hair toppled down her back and she gasped, putting her hand on her hair
"You look better that way"
She nodded and offered him a smile
Neil looked down at his phone and answered the call walking away

Avni's face changed from one of happiness to a grimace and wiped away a fake tear
Picking up her phone she held it to her ear "Ive got the Sheikh exactly where I want him, in time he will trust me enough to tell me about the new project" cutting the phone off she smiled at Neil who walked back in
"Come, let me show you around"
Avni took his hand and shivered, she wasnt sure why she had felt electric shocks everytime she touched him, she looked up at Neil who brought her hand up and kissed it, seemingly he had felt it to

---------------------

Avni's POV-

I watched as Neil pointed out different things around the home, he seemed so kind and sweet yet I knew this was merely an act, I wouldn't fall in his trap so easily, for him I would be his doting wife until I found the details on the new project he had planned.
Neil turned to me "What are you thinking about"
He was always wondering, so interested in what I was thinking but this nice guy act would not work for me

"Oh, nothing, just how beautiful this place is"
"And there is our room"
I had completley forgotten that he would expect us to share a room, I couldnt think of a coherent excuse to stay in a seperate room so I would just have to grin and bare it.
"Do you like it habibi" he asked as if my opinion actually mattered but I knew better
"I love it"
He cupped my cheek again "Is something wrong"
"No, of course not"

The quicker I worked this out, the quicker I could leave this strange man who made me feel even stranger things.
"I brought you this, if you like it, wear it tonight"
His eyes gleamed with pride
I took the package from him and went to the bathroom
I looked at the long silk nightie, it was a dark purple and was embroidered with lace flowers by the neckline, I was happy that atleast he wasnt trying to take advantage, I needed to get on his good side so I would wear it

Neil's POV-

Avni was beautiful, she smiled at me as she came out of the bathroom, there was something different about her, she wanted something from life and I would do my best to support her.
It had been a long time since anyone had made me feel the way she did, all I wanted was to make her happy, I would do anything if she asked me to.

"Shall we sleep now, you've had a long day"
She looked nervous, her eyes running from the room then to me
"I promise I wont touch you without your permission"
She looked thankful and followed me to the room
"What are you doing" she squeaked as I unbuttoned my shirt
"Changing"
Her hand was over her eyes and she had her toes curled tightly

I laughed and she peeked through her fingers "whats so funny" she asked, annoyed
"Youre cute"
"Cute" she repeated dumbfounded
Slipping my t-shirt on, I removed my trousers and put some joggers on
Kissing her cheek she jumped "goodnight habibi"
"Goodnight" she whispered lying next to me
Her back was stiff as she turned away from me

"You have nothing to fear, I promise"
She relaxed and turned on her back, her eyes shut, then she turned to face me
"How many women have you had in this bed"
"Why, jealous"
She blushed and shook her head "No"
"Youre the first and last habibi"
Her eyes fluttered shut again and her breathing levelled out
