she stepped out of the old shop that had its sign falling off that read 'off license' in sky blue. when she noticed it was pouring outside she released an innocent smile. She wasn't bothered by the rain at all, she always thought of rain as a happy calm weather instead of gloomy and depressing , infact she loved the rain so much, she could dance in it.
whilst minding her own business, stumbling home and enjoying the breeze hit her bareface. She suddenly heard a familiar voice calling out her name, who was it though?
" Reyna REYNA REYNA!" when she finally turned around in confusion, she witnessed a tall guy with wet hair holding an orange umbrella on the side not on top of his head the slightest.
It was him. that was it. she felt it all over again. all of it.
"Reyna?" he says surprisingly. Opening his eyes wider in belief of who he just saw.
"How do you know my name?" Reyna claims in confusion.
"You really don't recognise me?" His voice cracked slightly.
no answer.
The mysterious guy watched her look at her feet and avoide eye-contact then finally he broke off the awkward silence.
"You really don't have a clue who I am?" she watched the tears stumble down his face almost asif a little boy just found out santa isn't real.
"I-I-i'm sorry, no ,I think the confused looks and blank stare would have answered that for you." She's lying. She knew exactly who he was. she knew this day would come eventually. The day they'd cross each others paths. Again.
She wanted to run. get far away from him as possible. she couldn't repeat history. She felt like someone just stabbed her in the heart, all this anger and pain rushed up her throat, her knees felt weak, she wanted to leave, she just couldn't. her eyes, said it all though.
"Julian, I'm Julian." The tears kept rolling down his face, he didn't care he was crying in public. He just wanted her to recognise who he was, little did he know.
Her heart broke in that split second.
Hearing that name after 10 years.
It all came rushing.
The memories. The hurt. The happiness.
She hasn't felt those emotions since the day he left her. She took a deep breath and finally spat a word out,
"oh." that little oh meant a lot of words she couldn't put in words.
That moment there and then,he realised how beautiful she truly is. The best curve on her was her smile. Her hair was as smooth as a babies bottom. Don't even get me started on her amazing skin complexion, how her caramel glowing skin brought out her brown chocolate eyes and her straight pearly whites. That was nothing compared to how amazing she was spiritually and mentally. She was different, one of a kind. She understood him, she cared so much, she loved him, put all her best into him.Julian thought to himself, how he could've ever been so stupid to lose someone like her. she was my everything so why did I leave her over stupid reasons? she was my hero,I wish someone gave me common sense as a teenager. She was the girl god gave me while I was young so i'd remember grief for the rest of my life.
He wanted to hug her let her know , he never got over her. it was too late. 10 years.. 10 years. 10 YEARS.
Julian moved his right arm up and tucked some of her honey locks behind her ear, so he could remember her features again. She finally looked up.
"Would you like to come over tomorrow? We can talk and catch up like old friends?" she exchanged a smile with him.
he remembered that smile. It was the fake smile she used it when she claimed she was fine ten years ago when really she wasn't. He still though her smile was Hermosa.
He remembered when she didn't call him a friend instead mi amor, more hot tears stumbled down his very well structured face.
"Juliaaaaaaan?.......hellll.....ooo?, i'm still waiting on an answer" - she echoed in his ear. He couldn't help himself but hug her. He just wanted to grab her face and kiss her, his first kiss was from her and he wants his last ones from her too.
"So I'm going to take that as a yes" Reyna chuckled. He nodded smiling, whilst still holding tight onto her. Once she let go, her soft hands wiped his tears, leaving him in peace with himself.
I wish I held her hand back then on our first, last date instead of complaining how sweaty it was because she was nervous. still thinking. as he watched he walk away again, why did I not just kiss her? what if she's moved on it's been 10 years? what if she has children? what if..? I let her walk away from me again. questions just roamed around in his head when he clocked he never stopped loving her .
later that night he received an text , it was unknown. It was Reyna, his heart started to dance, skipping a beat as though someone just pulled his heart out of his chest. It read, " 3055 padaro Lane, Santa Barbara, California , see you at 4 x"
He was surprised she still even had his number saved, Julian started smiling as he fell asleep remembering how they use to plan to live in California by the beach together on facetime when they fell asleep together because they lived far apart.
