Chapter Thirty-Eight

"¡DESPIERTA!"

Faith shook me.

"AWAKE!"

"You said that already."

"So wake up."

"What time is it?"

"7:30."

"Why am I up at 7:30?"

"Because church starts at 9."

"Okay."

We got dressed and ready for church. Mom dropped us off.

"Let's go inside."

We sat in the back row. The church bell rung.

"You've been to church before." Faith said

"Yeah, when I was like 14."

"So like two or three years ago. I'll give you props."

Collin sat next to me.

"Hi, Collin."

"Hey, Bella."

We hugged each other.

"I didn't know you go to this church." I said

"I don't, you sent the group chat a text." 

"No, I didn't."

"Yes, you did look."

Me: Get up guys we're going to church

Layla: Say what now?

Maxwell: church and I don't get along

Collin: All of us need Jesus.

Layla: He's not lying

Maxwell: I'll be there I guess ughhh

"I didn't send that." I said

"Guilty." Faith said

"Ugh, I'm sorry Collin."

I touched his hand, Faith noticed.

"No need to apologize."

He touched my hand. Then we started holding hands and smiled.

"Stage one." Faith whispered to me

"What's up gang." Layla said

"Hey."

"Hey guys, food?" Max asked

"No thank you."

"You always have food." I said

"Yeah well, we all can agree that church is boring and way too long so."

"Well, I didn't send you all that text Faith did."

"Hi, guys." Nadia said

"Who invited the She-Devil?" Max asked

"I did."

"Of course you did Faith."

"Excuse me..." Nadia said

She "accidentally" sat on Collin's lap.

"Woah!"

Everyone is shocked except Nadia. She turned around & touched Collin's chin.

"Oops, I'm so sorry."

She got up and tried to squeeze in between Collin & I. I moved over so she wouldn't sit on my lap. But I moved the wrong way because now she's sitting next to Collin.

"That was very inappropriate Nadia, Nadi whatever you're called." I said

"Dang Bell, a little harsh." Layla said

"Not really."

"Shut up Maxwell."

"It's Max get it right."

"Sorry, Isabella." Nadia said

"Are you?"

She looked at Collin.

"Jealous are we not?" Faith whispered to me.

"Not."

Nadia and Collin talked and laughed all throughout church. After two long hours church was finally over.

"You two really need to shut up." I said while rolling my eyes.

I got up and walked the other way so I wouldn't walk past Collin and Nadia. Faith followed me to the door. I called my mom and told her to come to pick Faith and me up.

"Bella, what's wrong?"

"Nothing it's just that those two need to learn when it's the right time to talk."

"Are you mad that they're going on a date tonight?"

"What!?"

"Oh, you didn't know?"

"No, I didn't. How did you know?"

"Because I overheard them talking about it."

"Oh well, I don't care."

Nadia & Collin walked passed. I rolled my eyes.

"Your lying." Faith said

"To be honest I'm not lying."

"Yes, you are."

"Stop it with that."

"With what?"

"That I know your lying thing."

"Because I do, I can see it."

"You're not a psychic!"

"And your not a liar but look where we're at."

"Hugh I'm so frustrated."

"Because the boy you're just now liking is going out with another girl. It was your idea y' know."

"I don't like him."

"Then you wouldn't mind turning around."

"Huh?"

"Turn around."

I turned around and saw Nadia and Collin outside. They're laughing about something & Collin just...

"Rubbed her cheek." I said

"Yeah, but it doesn't mean anything right?"

"...Right."

"Okay then let's go home."

"I'm all for it, mom is here anyway."

I walked past Collin & Nadia.

"Bye, Bella."

"Byeeee."

They both said. I gave them a fake smile. When I got in the car I rolled my eyes.

"How was church?" Mom asked

"Don't ask."

"Bella has an attitude."

"I do not."

"Oh really?"

I shook my head and looked out the window.
