She stared on in shock at the scene unfolding before her. Her blue eyes wide in disbelief.

"Why...?" her soft voice whispered into the night.

The male with silver hair froze in his actions, having heard her whisper even over their grunts of pleasure. Slowly he raised himself from the body below him and turned, giving her a full view of both and making it impossible for her to deny it as him.

"K-Kagome?" He said shocked before his figure tensed up more as he glanced between the woman he had previously been on top of and the woman in the forest.

"Why, Inuyasha?" She said again, her voice clearer and louder than before. Her raven hair swayed from side to side as she shook her head. "I trusted you, Inuyasha!" The volume of her voice increased with every word, showing her anger.

The silver ears on top of his head swiveled quickly in panic while he stayed quiet

"He never loved you." The voice came from the woman lying on the ground. She raised her upper body so that she could look at the other woman. Brown clashed with blue as they made eye contact.

"What?" Kagome's eyes showed her distress.

"He never loved you. His feelings towards you were caused by the feelings he possessed for me. You were always second. Just a girl who was his love in her past life. Of course he would never choose you when I am an option." The cold feminine voice said calmly, never once wavering.

Kagome's body went numb as she processed these words, knowing them to be true. Her heart beating rapidly for a minute before it slowed down to a dull pulse, quiet but there. Kikyo took pleasure in watching the bright blue eyes dull slightly.

Inuyasha looked on during this exchange, feeling the tension in the air.

"I am going home." Kagome said suddenly.

"What about your promise to give me the jewel?!" Inuyasha asked loudly.

Her eyes turned towards him and she was quiet for a moment before mumbling 4 times, "sit" activating the one thing he couldn't remove from his person before turning on her heel and dashing towards the portal.

The yellow book bag bounced when she leapt over things in her way. Luckily the run from the Goshinboku to the well was not very far so she managed to make it to the wooden portal before the bead's spell had worn off.

Sprinting to the center of the clearing, Kagome leapt over the edge of the well using her momentum and let herself free-fall into the darkness without looking back. As she neared the bottom, the area took on a blue color, showing that the magic did not fail her.

Gravity greedily grabbed at her body as the magic wore off and she landed on the ground at the bottom of the well. Knowing that Inuyasha would chase after her, she quickly climbed out of the well then chanted a few words, learned from Kaede just in case, that would close the well for good.

As she felt the magic in the well dissipate, her body slowly slid to the ground. Her eyes clouded with tears and her body wrecked with sobs.

'I'm never going to see them again...'

Even knowing it's for the best that Inuyasha did not get the jewel, she couldn't stop the flood of tears while she curled up on the ground.
