Chapter 50 - Back to School, again

Clary POV Friday

I woke at 7:10am. Crap. I was late. I quickly rushed out of bed and got ready. (Outfit above) Alec had already gone to work and Maddy was in the kitchen sipping her coffee

I downed a cup of coffee quickly and Maddy clearly seeing I was in a rush handed me a piece of her toast. Tessa walked in as I kissed Tommy goodbye and grabbed my bag

"Oh Tessa how were your parents?" I said quickly halfway out the door

"Fine thanks, I'll tell you everything when you get back, don't want to make you even more late" she replied as I nodded

"Okay" I said smiling at Tessa

"Thanks Mads" I said gesturing to the toast "see you in a bit" I added leaving and getting to school just in time

"Your late" Magnus said as I ran into the classroom

"I know I know" I said getting ready for my first lesson and talking to Magnus for a few minutes

About 10 minutes later the bell rang and students started piling into the classrooms, taking their seats

"Clary did you take my folder by accident?" Maddy asked walking into the classroom

"Umm" I said looking in my bag and pulling out Maddy's folder "yeah sorry"

"Its fine" Maddy said as I wrote her a note so that the teacher wouldn't blame her for being late "as long as I haven't lost my work, see you later Clary"

"Later Mads" I said just as the late students sat down in class

I explained to the class what they were doing and then let them start their art pieces

About halfway through the class Jia Penhallow walked in. The class went a bit quieter but carried on working and slowly became louder again while Jia talked to me

"Clary, I trust that Mr Lightwood will be here on time" she said as I nodded and smiled. Alec was coming in to talk to the students interested in law this afternoon

"Of course" I said smiling "he will be here around 1:00"

"Excellent, if he is early then he is welcome to wait in the staffroom with everyone providing he has signed in and collected a visitor badge from the reception" Jia said as I nodded and she gave a smile before walking back out

Maddy POV Lunchtime

I was walking through school with Jess and Amelia when I passed the reception

"Maddison just the right person" Mrs Turner said looking at me "come with me, girls you may join if you wish"

Me, Amelia and Jess followed Mrs Turner to the reception

"Can you please escort Mr Lightwood to the staffroom please?" She said as I nodded and Alec smiled at me

"Your receptionist kept staring at me" Alec said making me laugh

"Yeah she does that with all visitors. Someone put in a complaint last time because she's so weird" I said as he stifled a laugh

I started walking to the staffroom with the others. As we went through the corridors some people looked at us and carried on talking not really bothered about Alec while some other girls stared and whispered to each other
