Capture Targets:

Nathaniel: Was bought by a clan of people who were known to be 'Researchers' in Luminous Roots. They tested things on him (mostly abuse to see if it would kick start his magic) and tried many different ways of having the Magic in a body be Unlocked before an Unlocking Ceremony. Everyone was told that the Unlocking Ceremony only worked because it was a blessing from the Goddess but the Researchers didn't believe this. So instead they tried everything imaginable on Nathaniel, even rape, to see if it would work. When his magic Unlocked, the group of people were excited but didn't let him go. It was another boy, later known as Vincent, who released him from his imprisonment.

Nathaniel, or No Name at the time, stumbled into a Medicinal shop to seek help for his injuries and luckily chanced upon a caring man. Afterwards he sought out shelter but since he had no money he was out of luck. A group of bandits had found him exhausted and passed out on the ground of the wet forest floor. Their leader, Neo "the Bloodthirsty", had taken a liking to the boy immediately upon looking into his eyes. (The Markings were an added plus) The group collectively decided to give him a name and 'Nathaniel' sort of stuck. [It was a fallen comrades name] They ended up sending him to the Unlocking Ceremony and when he got a Scholarship they urged him to go.

A/N: Hopefully, the fact that I'm not going further than the background story isn't bothering anyone. I'm just sticking to their backgrounds at this point or as much information I think you will need from the original game.

Vincent: Vincent was one of the Capture Targets who wasn't a part of Helena's life until later on when Nathaniel had gained enough skills in order to go back and slaughter his abusers. He was still the silent sort but he seemed to be calculative and observed everything around him with intelligent eyes. There was always a hint of sadness that hung over him though which made the others wish to befriend him. Vincent is the most 'calming' of the group of capture targets. He was also attending another school before the massacre of people.

(You may be wondering why he never did it himself, the answer is that they weren't abusive really to him like they were to Nathaniel. They tried to trigger Magic Unlocking with him by basically cutting him off from emotion instead. He just didn't feel the need to kill them.)

In order for Helena to take Vincent's path she would need to try to bring him out of his shell and ask him questions or bring him to places instead of the others. There's nothing much more to say about Vincent as much as I would like to since he's one of my favorites ;)

Leonard Caddigan: Only living heir to the Second Son of 'Calamity Caddigan', Leo's grandfather. His grandfather died in battle when they were besieged by a warring Land, which is how he'd have wanted to die. Leo's father was killed by a Magical Beast Wave when he was 4 years old. At 6 his mother went to the Main House to ask his Father's older brother, Henry Caddigan, for help because they didn't have much left to live on. In order to get just a bit of money each month, his mother was abused physically and sexually by his Uncle. Leo was to young and weak to help and she refused to go to anyone else for help even when he plead.

He learned years later that the reason why she allowed this is because his Uncle told her he'd forcefully remove Leo from her, with the reasons that he had Caddigan blood flowing through his veins, and refuse her from ever seeing him again.

Before learning this information though, he had allowed himself to sink into the persona of a flirtatious playboy that he'd adopted to try and cheer his mother up with. He'd lost himself along the way and begun to succumb to drink and women. So, although he had excellent elements he could train in and was accepted into the special class, he mostly used this 'status' to pull females in.

Anthony Biel: This Capture Target doesn't have a terrible back story like the others, so much. He's very loyal and sweet. Helena met him when he moved into her Nest when she turned 11. Anthony cleansed her wounds when he happened across her after a pretty bad beating. His Father was a Smith and his mother on the other hand, tanned animal skins for a high price because of the upsurge of demands for her expertise.

Unfortunately,  Anthony didn't get into the Special Class since he only held the Element for Earth but what he lacked in Elements he made up for in intelligence. In school he took Advanced Runes and ended up Mastering it by the time of graduation, which is unheard of in someone so young.

Anthony began work as a High Order Warrior or 'Protector' for Luminous Roots. He loved helping others and the fact that he was protecting them appeased this side of him.

Curran: Nickname: Eternal Dusk

Curran joins the special class when they turn 14 but his 'don't come near me' aura pushes the others away. The only reason why he befriends the group is because he was injured after a failed attempt at stealing something from the Headmaster's quarters. While he was hiding and injured he had slipped into Helena's room. There, Helena helped bandage him up and refused to ask any questions. When Curran realized that his pheromones didn't work on her, because of her resilient mind and willpower, he grew interested.

He's a thief who was raised by bandits, much like Nathaniel but he was raised since birth. His mother had left him in the forest near the bandit hideout in hopes that they would kill him. She had known that some sort of Demon was his father but since he was a child she couldn't bring herself to kill the baby. He was named Eternal Dusk because of the fact he steals at Dusk/Night time and any women he visits becomes so infatuated that they eventually die from neglecting their health, leading to their deaths. (Eternal Dusk meaning that they will 'sleep forever' kind of.) This man is very beautiful and enchanting. Even some men find him extremely attractive. Curran hasn't been completely decided on Magic Elements yet but one will be a type of pheromone he releases unconsciously which makes others attracted to him. He can increase the volume of it which is what causes those women to basically go insane and die.

Now that I'm done writing the background of most of the main characters I'll just state that in the Otome Game there was never any huge crisis like the Demon King awakening. I will give away a bit on why this is the case, as I've stated in some comments before, Lily has caused a ripple butterfly effect. Much like how she had guessed in the previous chapter. Because of her being alive and the decisions that have followed, most everything has changed.

I hope you guys enjoyed this 'chapter', it took me a while and my back is killing me.

ADDED NOTE:

Sorry, I realized after creating a new species a few minutes ago that I probably haven't ever made it clear before but there are characters that aren't completely human. Which, for some, is obvious but for others aren't. Especially since I just created a species for one of the characters. I'm super excited about it since I was just mucking around and created a name with two words. One of the words made sense because of what the creature is but the other I chose was just a word I liked and when the two combined it sounded similar to American that I had a good laugh. Then, I looked up the second words meaning and realized that the two words together actually perfectly describe the type of creature I created. x,x I'm a genius and I didn't even know it!

So, I'll leave you with the creatures name but I will only give you details on the creature later on when it is discovered. It's name is Emoreiken. I honestly tried to look up translated versions of what this creature was that I was picturing and got nothing that remotely sounded decent or translated properly so I chose this. I can't wait to introduce you guys to it. ^.^
