Chapter Thirty-Four

Luna: I'll see you at five, bye!

I put my phone down, a cheeky grin on my face as I flip to the next page of questions. His little threat didn't even scare me as much, I know he won't do anything. Kaden is like an adorable puppy if I play my cards right.

The class ends at exactly one fifty in the afternoon and I quickly pack my bag before rushing out the door. I have ten minutes to get to my next class and I hate Thursdays because this tutorial is always held at the other side of main campus.

My face feels warm and I'm pretty sure my cheeks are red as I make my way down the stairs of the lecture hall. I take a few sips of my water before relaxing, playfully glaring at Maddox and Eva as they chuckle at my flustered expression. The lecturer walks in shortly and starts the two-hour class. I'm counting down the minutes until I can get out of here. I never did like double lectures.

"Do you need a ride to Kaden's?" Maddox asks, twirling his keys as Eva turns to look at me. "I'm heading that way anyways."

"If you don't mind?"

"Hop in." He grins, opening the door for me.

I smile gratefully, taking a seat in the back. I had decided to walk to college today so my bike is at home. Maddox starts the car and reverses out of the parking space, driving past the large iron gates before turning onto the main road.

We drop Eva off at the house first before continuing towards Kaden's home. I text him to let him know that I am on my way as we drive through the countryside. Maddox follows my directions and soon, we arrive at the familiar tree line.

"Um...are you sure we're at the right place Luna?" He frowns, leaning forward and looking around the place.

I chuckle and nod, getting out of the car with him following suit. "It's past the tree line."

We walk up to the tree line and I step through the familiar gap, beckoning Maddox to follow. His jaw drops as he stares at the house before grinning.

"This is awesome!" He breathes, turning to me.

"Kaden and a few friends of his built it." I explain, my fingertips running across the petals of a rose blooming in his garden.

"Wow, that's impressive." He nods, before glancing down at his watch. "Crap, I've got to run. I'll see you later okay?"

"Okay, thanks for the lift!" I smile, watching him wave before going back through the gap.

As I walk up the path to Kaden's house, I hear the engine of Maddox's car start before he drives away, leaving me with the sounds of nature. I ring the bell, hearing it echo inside the house. A few seconds pass and I try again, frowning when nobody answers the door.

Sighing, I rummage through my bag in search of my keys and just as my hand wraps around them, I hear a door squeak open and a male voice curse which makes me move to the left. He freezes mid step, one of the double doors of the patio half open. I wiggle my fingers in a wave, my eyes narrowing suspiciously when he stands straighter and clears his throat.

"Luna, hey." He collects himself, sending me a confident smile.

"Hi," I walk up to him, my arms wrapping around his waist in an embrace. "Why are you sneaking in to your own home?"

"I was just out on a run." He chuckles, playing with a loose curl of my hair.

"In jeans and converses?" I arch a brow, my eyes flickering to his shoes that has spots of dirt here and there.
