"It's okay," Martha reassured. "she's nice now."

Heather hesitantly sat down, and stared at the girls. She played with her food for a short amount of time, until Y/N spoke.

"So was this the new friend you're going to bring to watch a movie?"

Veronica smiled. "Yeah, we were thinking either Titanic or The Notebook."

"Hey," Martha cut in. "those don't have happy endings!"

Zoey shrugged. "I mean, Rose ends up going to heaven and-."

"Hey," Heather squeaks. "no spoilers!"

All girls laugh, but Zoey stopped almost instantly. Heather looked over at her, and a pang of regret washed over her.

"Zoey, I'm sorry." She said calmly, causing Zoey to look at her with slight shock. Heather continued. "I know I didn't say anything to your face this morning, but I did say some pretty bad things. I'm just so sorry."

The girl looked at Heather in the eye, and a small smile creeped onto her face. She held her hand out. "Hi, I'm Zoey Murphy."

Heather arched her eyebrow in confusion. "Huh?"

"I think it's best if we all should start over." Zoey explained, then looked around the table. "These are my friends; that's Veronica, Martha, and Y/N."

She grinned. "Well, my name's Heather McNamara."

For the rest of lunch, and the day, all was well with rekindled friendships, and a new one.

...

"You're going to hate me for this,"

Y/N looked up at Zoey as the four friends were getting ready to leave Jazz band. Since the year was almost coming to an end, they stayed until almost seven o'clock at night.

She smiled. "Please, nothing will make me hate you more than I do now."

Veronica and Martha laughed, as Zoey rolled her eyes and tried not to chuckle. "Okay, with everything that's been going, Evan said that he would feel more comfortable if he stayed at my house, in case anything...." She trailed off.

"You okay, Zuzu?" Veronica placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I just, I love you guys so much, but it's the worst when I don't have any classes with you. During P.E, some bitches threw my bag into the trashcan."

"I'll kill them," Y/N stated. "I'll kill them all."

Zoey shook her head. "As much as I'd like that, it'd make everything worse. I'm just scared what they'll do to you guys."

"Hey," Martha hugged Zoey. "it doesn't matter what everyone else does to us, it only matters what we do to each other."

Zoey grinned, and hugged her friend. She pulled away, and looked to Y/N. "What are you going to do about Evan?"

She sighed. "You shouldn't feel guilty around him because of me-."

"You shouldn't have to act like you're happy  that we're together because I'm your friend." Zoey interrupted.

Y/N stared at her friends, then let out a heavy sigh. "Boys are stupid."

"Oh honey," Martha embraced her, Veronica and Zoey followed. "you only have to find the good ones."

"Can we just go back to kindergarten?"

"Believe me, I've been saying that for the entire year." Veronica mumbled. The four laughed for the hundredth time that day, and pulled away.
