This is a version of the Merlin series where, Merlin not only has an elder adopted brother, but also where Arthur knows about Merlin's magic from the beginning when the boy is made his manservant.
This story will differ a lot from the main series.
...
After the long journey Merlin and Karma finally arrived at Camelot. Merlin gazed in wonder at all of the buildings that littered the streets of the great city along with the many people and stalls that filled the market place, whilst Karma just casually follows him boredom written across his face.
The two entered the main courtyard where a large crowd is gathered. Merlin couldn't see what they were looking at so he took his brothers arm and pushed threw the crowed until they stood at the front. Suddenly a bound man is lead towards a wooden platform in the middle of the croud. The man's name was announced to be Thomas Collins, he was accused of the use of sorcery magic, both Merlin and Karma knew that magic was outlawed in Camelot but this was Merlin's first time seeing and understanding the implications of it and what happens to those who use it. Karma who has seen what happens and was aware of the danger that himself and Merlin would have to face instantly looked over to Merlin, who he knew had never seen this before, to see that his brothers face was covered with shock and fear. Karma quickly places a hand on Merlin's shoulder causing the younger boy to look at him, apon seeing his brothers face he quickly calms his expression so as to not seam suspicious.
After the execution of the young man had finished the king proclaims that there will be a feast to celebrate the peace that the kingdom has had for 20 years thanks to the ban on magic. However, the mother of the man who had just been killed was devastated and she cursed the king, Uther Pendragon. She told him, 'a son for a son' and then disappeared within a whirlwind before the guards could catch her.
This caused the crowd to quickly disperse. Karma and Merlin also go with the rest of the crowd, afraid to be in the sight of the king's anger and head over to some guardsmen that are outside of one of the castles towers. "Could you please point us towards the court Physicians quarters? Please." The guards point up the corridor inside of the tower door that they are standing just outside of, 'how convenient' thought Karma. "Thank you for your help." Karma says as the two pass by.
They followed the guards instructions and eventually found Gaius' chambers. When they entered they found the man on the upper ledge looking threw some books, however just as the man was turning around the ledge that he had been leaning on gave way causing the man to fall, without thinking Merlin slowed down time with his magic and moved the bed that was also in the room towards where the man will land.
Gaius instantly realised that one of the boys had used magic and considering that the older of the two was pointing at the younger he could guess who.
However, thankful for being saved, as well as having read Merlin's mother's letter, he made the two boy's his apprentices until they found jobs for themselves.
--A couple days later (brought to you by the spungbob narrator) --
Merlin went out to do a job for Gaius when he came across a big prat, who was obviously bullying a servant by using him as moving target practice whilst the servant carried a target, he may be a knight or something, Merlin decided to step in before the servant got hurt by the prat. "Hey. That's enough." Merlin said in a calm manner. "What!" The prat exclaimed as he started walking over to Merlin. "You've had your fun my friend." "Do I know you?" The prat asked in annoyance. "Ugh, I'm Merlin." Merlin hasitadly says as he puts his hand forwards for a shake. "So I don't know you?" Prat states as he ignores the outstretched hand. "No." Merlin replys whilst lowering his hand. "Yet, you called me, friend?" The cocky s**t says in disbelief. Merlin nods slightly "That was my mistake." He returns. "Yes, I think so." "Yeah, I'd never have a friend who'd be such an ass." Merlin cockily replies as he starts to walk away.
