Chapter Forty-Eight- Nightouts, Business Meetings and Surprise Dinners

I stepped in pushing the door of the cafe where I agreed to meet Marga. Finally, we were getting that coffee we promised each other. I scanned the place and found her sitting at a table in a corner. She looked casual in an off-shoulder top, dark denims and red Keds sneakers. Somehow, I felt a bit overdressed in a floral shift dress that stopped above my knees and strappy pointed flats. Michaela just sent me samples of her new collection and I thought it'd be a waste not to use them. She gets upset every time I try to return the clothes so I just try to wear them as much as possible.

Marga seemed to be staring at nothingness. I remember her sounding a bit sad when she answered my call. It was the opposite of her cheery voice when we first met. I was glad that she still agreed to meet me even if she's in a rough place.

"Hey." My greeting startled her.

"Madi!" she stood to hug me. "I'm so happy you called. I really needed to go out after Liam and I-."

"It's okay. You don't have to tell me."

"I'm sorry. Things are just tough right now but I'm happy to be out. Finally we're having this coffee. I hope you don't mind, I called Carlos and Avery to hang out with us later. We could watch a movie or go karaoke."

"That sounds fun. I haven't seen them in a while."

"So, you said you wanted to ask me something?" she asked before the waitress came to our table.

We ordered food before I told her what was on my mind. She willingly answered all my questions and explained everything I wanted to know even if it involved her ex slash boss. It was a shock for me to know that Liam wasn't only her ex, he was her boss too. It explained how she knew Carlos as they both attend functions of their bosses. She brushed off my apology and told me she was more than happy to help me. I swallowed the guilt and embarrassment inside me. I badly need their help. The next two hours, we came up with a plan and she promised to set a meeting for me and her boss.

When Carlos and Avery came, we headed to the nearest Lumiere and watched a comedy movie before dinner. It was a huge relief that they weren't acting awkward with me especially that I was dating their boss. It was also like we had a silent agreement not to talk about Michael.

Marga insisted to go to a KTV bar so we did karaoke until midnight. I thought we were done for the night so when David called, I told him I was going home. The three had another plan in mind so I shyly asked David to drive us to Harlow. I felt so fortunate to have David driving me. At least I don't have to worry about Michael worrying about me. I'm pretty sure David updates him of our whereabouts.

They wanted to go clubbing so I suggested the safest club I know. I left all my inhibitions outside the club and partied like it was the first time. We did lots of drinking and dancing. We were in the middle of doing shots when my phone vibrated in my jeans pocket. I took the shot quickly and went outside to answer Michael's call.

"Heeey." I slurred.

"Angel," he growled. He must be angry.

"Stop it. I can see you scowling from here."

"You've been drinking."

"A little bit." A hiccup escaped my mouth as I answered. Okay, I was drinking more than little.

"Why are you doing this to me?"

"What am I doing?" I asked teasingly. When he didn't say anything, I realised how childish I was being. The man was in Tokyo working his ass off to keep his company and I'm here making him upset. Suddenly, I felt less drunk. "I'm sorry. Please don't be mad at me. I'm just having fun with my friends. I'm gonna sober up, I promise. Please stop worrying about me."
