"We're moving to America"
When my mother spoke those words, I felt my heart practically jump out of my chest.
I saw this as an opportunity for me to study science, go to a great college, and erase all my problems. Growing up, I always thought America was the greatest place on Earth. America was a place for people to be who they were and express their individuality. People were more caring and considerate.
Boy was I wrong.
Turns out America feels no different than England. Sure, the culture and the basics are the same, but people actually turned out.. a lot more rude than I expected. However, we were in New York of all places.
When you're overly obsessed with science, and have a British accent, American teens typically don't think that's "cool."
I can officially say my only friends are my mother and younger sister, Thea.
