He stared at me for a long minute with a blank expression on his face, not giving anything away which caused my anxiety to grow as the seconds passed. I held my breath as an attempt to keep myself calm as I waited for him to react.

I smacked him lightly on the arm after a few more seconds of silence causing him to jump a little and come back to reality. He shot me a glare, "Will you stop doing that?!"

"You can't just stand there staring at me and not say anything after I just told you I liked you, do you know-" He cut my rambling off by placing his hands on either side of my face and leaning in, placing a soft kiss on my lips.

He leaned back slightly and smiled down at me, amused at my surprised expression, "Was that okay?"

"I suppose it'll do," I grinned as he rolled his eyes.

A cough from my right caused us both to turn, Scott was standing there with a small grin on his face, "Am I interrupting?"

I laughed and shook my head at him, taking a step back from Stiles who looked at his best friend with questioning eyes, "What's up?"

"I need to talk to you," Stiles nodded and looked back at me.

"I'll find you later, okay?"

"Yeah, okay," I nodded and smiled, he leaned back down and gave me a quick peck before walking away, following Scott with a grin on his face.

The smile on my face stayed there for the rest of the school day causing Kira to stare at me curiously and repeatedly asking me why I was so happy.

I told her about earlier this morning as we walked towards the parking lot ready to head home and she shot a huge grin my way.

I noticed Scott standing alone by his dirt bike, waiting for Kira. I looked around, scanning the place for Stiles but he was nowhere to be seen.

Both Scott and Kira looked at each other with the biggest smiles as they greeted. I gave him a small wave which he returned.

"Um, have you seen Stiles anywhere?"

"Yeah, my mom called me earlier and told me he was at the hospital," I'm guessing his mom works at the hospital.

"What, why? Is he okay?"

"Sleep deprivation."

"He did look really tired but I didn't think it was that bad," I said anxiously, "I'm guessing we can't go see him?"

"Not now no but we're going by to see him later if you want to come with us?"

"Yeah, alright, I'll see you later then," They nodded and got on his bike, ready to leave.

I sighed and pulled my jacket closer to me ready to walk all the way home. I considered calling my dad and ask him if he could come pick me up but decided against it, not wanting to bother him while at work. He had mentioned something about a meeting that would probably last a while earlier and seemed quite stressed about it. Besides, walking home could be good and it doesn't take that long.

I opened my bag in search of my headphones, groaning when they were no where in sight. The walk home was going to be a lot longer than I expected.

I tried calling both Kira and Scott later that evening to ask about what time they were going to come pick me up but I kept getting their voicemail's.

Sick of sitting around waiting I decided to head to the hospital by myself. I put my jacket on and skipped downstairs, calling out to my dad while doing so, "Hey dad, I need to borrow the car."

I sat down on the stairs to put my shoes on, my father making his way towards me with a confused expression on his face, "Where are you going?"

"I have to visit a friend."

"Now?" He asked as he looked down at his watch, "Why now and what friend?"

I sighed, "Do you have to know everything?"

"Yes, I do. Even things I might not want to hear."

I stared at him for a moment, blinking a few times too many, "First of all, ew. Second of all, if you must know, I'm going to the-"

I stopped speaking and my eyes widened as they focused on the black smokey figure standing behind my dad staring directly at us. My dad looked at me worriedly and then followed my gaze, causing him to freeze. He back away from the creature, walking closer to me, "Aspen, go, get out of here."

I looked back at him as if he'd lost his mind, "I am not leaving you here alone with...that."

"Please, for once, just do as you're told!"

I hesitated but turned around to go into the kitchen. It didn't really do much since there was another one standing right there blocking my way.

Before I could do or say anything, whatever this thing was reached out its hand and placed it right by my ear. I stood frozen as I stared into its eyes that were now starting to glow.

And just like that, it pulled its hand away, leaving a burning sensation where it had been and disappeared.
