"Warmth and Sweetness"
(Day 04 - Hot Chocolate)

Finished coloring! Strange how I had most of the right colors for Crestalre, but Katoptrixs - my own character - was ten times more challenging

Finished coloring! Strange how I had most of the right colors for Crestalre, but Katoptrixs - my own character - was ten times more challenging. Funny how that works out. Especially when you're using your mom's old prismacolors.
Oh yes, my mom's an artist. And a writer. Now you know where I get it from. X3

December hit the timelines like a hailstorm. Every region found itself blanketed in white. And while some found it easier to handle than others, the Kalos region was hit the hardest. Having been spending some time there as the affects of the war slowly dissipated from Ridian, the former rebellion had been hit head on by the horrendous weather. So, of course, they jumped on the opportunity to spend the holidays at the Control Center. At least, most of them.
The misfit groups sat around a table in the dining room, which had become quite crowded, having to have fit almost five, perhaps six, timelines in at once, not including the AUs. Although, the only thing that really bothered Katoptrixs was the noise. The sound was overwhelming to the Reaper, the blankness that plagued his vacant vision neither aiding to his uncomfortableness, nor taking away from it. Katoptrixs had grown used to the word around him being seen in fleeting shadows of aura and the occasional flash of light breaking through the surroundings darkness. After all, he knew nothing else. At least, he remembered nothing else. The others seemed to remember a different time, a time where the world had not been made up of silver linings and fleeting images.

All of a sudden, Katoptrixs felt something pushed towards his cold claws, the brush of a familiar hand against his. Slowly, Katoptrixs closed his claws around the cylindrical item, feeling its warmth seep through onto his palms.
"Crestalre. What is this warm thing you've handed to me." Katoptrixs asked, his tone quiet and emotionless.
"Trust me, Katoptrixs. Just take a sip. I promise it's safe." Crestalre explained. Katoptrixs couldn't see it, but he could tell by her tone that she was smiling.
"Why is it warm."
Crestalre laughed. "You sure do ask a lot of questions."
Katoptrixs sighed, then lifted the cylindrical object up to his mouth. The contents sloshed around inside as he moved it slowly, the burning liquid dripping over the side and on to his left hand. Not that he was able to feel it. The smell was familiar, sweet and rich, although he couldn't quite place his claw on where he had smelled it before. Cautiously, Katoptrixs took a small sip. The liquid was thick and frothy, burning hot against his friged tongue, although the contents was quickly cooling down from his body's natural freezing temperature.
"...did you make it." Katoptrixs asked before taking another sip, then lowering the object down from his mouth.
"Now, why do you ask that?" Crestalre responded questioningly.
"Because. It's sweet. And warm." Katoptrixs paused, then said quietly. "Like you."
There was no response from Crestalre. By this time, the room had quieted down for the most part, a simple low chatter of people talking amongst themselves filling the air. Katoptrixs waited a few more seconds, and when no response came from Crestalre, he spoke up once more.
"...did I say something wrong?"
"No no. Of course not." Crestalre spoke quickly. "I just... didn't expect that from you."
"Expect what."
Crestalre sighed. "Nevermind. Just, do you like it?"
Katoptrixs nodded slowly.
"Good. That's called hot chocolate. At least, in most places. On Alola, they call it Tapu Cocoa." Crestalre giggled at the joke, although Katoptrixs didn't seem to understand it, which was understandable.
"Nevermind." Crestalre patted Katoptrixs on the back. "Just finish that up. Dinner will be soon, I'm sure of it."

The name for this piece was given to me by the wonderful Saphire. :3
It's official. Katoptrixs had a chocolate addiction. I just find that so hilarious. Ever since that one Valentine's night, he just loves chocolate. Or, at least, the feeling it gives him, reminding him of that night. Without exactly reminding him, since he can't remember anything before his 'reincarnation'.
And once again, I'm rambling. You guys get what I mean though, right? Not that any of you will actually know what happened that night, other than Erin...
Moving on to the story!!

Katoptrixs floated along in silence. It had been a few days spent at the Control Center, and yet he still hadn't captured a feel for the area. Everything felt disorienting, like it changed beneath him as he moved along. Floating was a lot easier, despite him not being able to feet the ground beneath his feet. It was a lot less confusing to the Reaper, although he was prone to bumping into things a lot more often. As if on cue, Katoptrixs felt himself bump into what felt to be an open doorframe, the thud echoing through his skull as he floated backwards in shock. This was why he had taken to letting Crestalre lead him around. Despite having only known her for a short while, Katoptrixs felt quite comfortable around her, trusting her enough to let her lead him around when he didn't feel comfortable enough to do it himself. Katoptrixs stumbled into the room, his feet brushing against the ground as he attempted to right himself. Slowly, Katoptrixs lowered himself on to the ground, leaning back against the wall behind him. As he moved his hands to rest beside him, Katoptrixs felt something resting on the ground. He moved his hand, running his claws over what felt to be a slim, rectangular box. Curiously, Katoptrixs moved the box over into his lap before lifting it up. There seemed to be indents along the front of the box. Carefully, Katoptrixs slid his claws into one of the intents, pulling what seemed to be a small flap open before taking out whatever was inside. The small, square piece was smooth to the touch, and had already began to freeze over to his touch. The piece smelled familiar, and almost out of instinct, Katoptrixs placed it into his mouth. As he bit down, the piece shattered into fragments that he swallowed easily. While the taste was masked by frost, the feeling was all to familiar, but yet again Katoptrixs couldn't place his finger on it. He pried open another flap, popping another piece into his mouth, hoping to taste it before it froze over. Still, the piece had little time no taste, although there was more than last time, the texture oddly waxy in his mouth, although it was quickly gone. Sighing, Katoptrixs pulled another piece out, then another. Katoptrixs had just pulled another piece out when he heard Crestalre's voice.
"Katoptrixs what are you doing?" Her voice had a mix of confusion and amusement laced within it.
Katoptrixs quickly set the box down, turning his head towards the sound of her voice, his eyes still vacant and clouded. He felt Crestalre kneel down in front of him, placing her hand on his knee, the warmth of her hand inviting and comforting.
"I do not know." Katoptrixs stated.
Crestalre chuckled. "You do realize you're supposed to eat one a day, right?"
"One of what?"
"The chocolates."
"Chocolates...?"
"That's what you were eating. Chocolates."
"...what's a 'chocolates'."
Crestalre laughed, while it sounded happy on the surface, something deep down sounded almost sad. "I'll explain later, Katoptrixs. For now, all you need to know is you can only eat one from that box a day, okay?"
Katoptrixs nodded, pushing the box away from him. "Okay..."
Crestalre took Katoptrixs hand, getting to her feet before helping him get up. "Come on. I think the Creators wanted us to get together for something. We wouldn't want to keep them waiting."
With that, Crestalre lead Katoptrixs out of the room and down to the commons area where all of the timelines had gathered.
