Today was the day that I lay it all on the table with my mother and I've never been so anxious over something my entire life. She moved out here in LA last year so it's easier than flying to Maryland.

"Babe are you ready"Ava said

"Yea lemme get my purse and have you seen my phone and keys"I asked

"They're in your hand babe"

"Right I knew that"I said nervously

"Babe listen it's gonna be okay just breathe okay I got you"she reassured

We drove to my mother's condo and the nerves were back and my hands began to sweat profusely. I got out the car then held on to Ava's hand trying to calm myself down a bit.

We walked up to the door and rung the doorbell.

"Coming"Evelyn yelled from the other side.

We waited and waited until finally she opened the door.

"Toni hey sweetie"Evelyn said greeting her eldest

"Hi mommy"

"Come in... Who's this"she asked referring to Ava

"I'm Ava very nice to meet you"Ava said answering for herself

"You too dear"

"How have you been mommy...you keeping up with the dietician"I asked sparking up a conversation

"I'm good and yes"

"Mommy"I said not believing her

"Alright alright I try but you know that girl has no taste whatsoever"

"Taste is what sent you to the emergency room mommy... Don't worry about taste if it's healthy eat it"

"Yea whatever...so what brings you by Tone"

I began to get nervous once again- I don't know if thisbwaa a good idea but it had to be done.

"Well uh I wanted to see how you've been and uh talk to you"

"Aww that's sweet and what do you want to talk about"Evelyn said giving Toni her full attention

"Alright but before I tell you this I need to know that you'll still love me"

"Okay well first things first Kenneth and I got a divorce" I said buttering her up

"He had somebody else"I told her bring up those memories
