"And who must you be?" Jordan flirtatiously asks Peyton.

"Someone who's definitely not interested in you," Peyton says, causing me and Chase to laugh.

"Ouch, hurt right there," Jordan playfully points to his heart.

"Her name's Peyton and we have to go," I say to Jordan and pull Peyton away from those guys.

"What just happened?" She asks. I explain everything that happened yesterday and she just stares at me with wide eyes.

"You mean you hung out with the three most popular guys in school?"

"Yep, but it's not a big deal," I shrug.

"It is--"

"Nope, it's not," I cut her off.

"Whatever." She mutters.

We reach our lockers and we retrieve our necessary books. We walk to class as we talk about random things and Luke joins us as we walk to Chemistry.

"So ladies, party? Friday?" He winks and puts his arm on Peyton's shoulder and I give her a suspicious look but she doesn't notice.

"Yes," Peyton squeals as we enter the classroom.

We sit at our assigned seats and wait for the teacher to begin with the lesson. Tristan and Jordan are the last people to enter the classroom and they saunter as they go to their seats. Tristan, unfortunately, takes a seat next to me, with Jordan behind him.

"Okay guys," Mrs Nell begins, "take a good look at the person next to you, because they will be your partner for the rest of the year," she finishes.

Seriously?  Me and Tristan partners?

Me and Tristan are like oil and water, they simply don't mix. I thought this is chemistry, you're supposed to know that oil and water doesn't mix.

"Great," I mutter sarcastically. "Feeling's mutual," Tristan whispers beside me.

This is gonna be a long year.

.........

"Peyton, I'll see you tomorrow, I have to go to the library before heading home," I say to Peyton.

"Okay," she says and walks away as I make my way to the library.

I enter the library and spot Tristan at a desk with a few books out, but he is staring at his phone. With him oblivious to my presence, I walk up to him and look over his shoulder only to find him playing Candy Crush.

"What level are you on?" I ask him so that he can acknowledge my presence.

"173," he replies as him shoves his phone into his pocket and I sit on the table across him.

"Found any books yet?" I ask. Tristan and I have a chemistry project and we decided to meet up in the library to do it.

"Didn't look," he says in an agitated manner.

"Why do look you annoyed?" I ask him.

"'Cause I am in the library," he says as if it's obvious.

"Okay, this is going to take longer than I expected," I mutter.

After two hours of working on our project, we finished. Surprisingly, Tristan did most of the work saying that he wanted to finish quickly.

"I didn't know you were smart," I say as we pack up.

"What makes you think that?" He asks.

"Not anyone can finish a hard project like that in a matter of hours," I state.

"Well it wasn't hard," he shrugs.

"That's because you're smart," I smirked.

"Don't say that," he says sternly.
I laugh and say, "No need to hide your inner nerd."

He glares at me before saying, "Tell anyone and I'll hurt you," he gets up from his seat and walks away.

Tristan plus nerd is equal to: never thought it's possible.

I get up from my seat and walked in the same direction that Tristan stormed of, and I exit the school. I see only my car and Tristan's in the parking lot and I walk towards my car, but I stop in my tracks as I hear Tristan yell on the phone. He seems angry. He drops the calls and violently gets in his car, slams the door and drives off.

Weird.

I get inside my car and I drive home.
........

"I made the biggest mistake of my life," Peyton groans as she covers her face with one of my pillows, lying on my bed. She came to my house a few minutes ago saying that she needs some advice, but didn't tell me what.

"What happened?" I enquire.

"I kissed Luke," she grunts.

I am taken aback by her words, not that I wasn't expecting it, but because I thought they didn't want to be more than friends.

"What? I thought...you guys..." I stutter.

"Didn't want to be more than friends?" She sits up and crosses her leg. "We've liked each other since we were young, but we didn't want to ruin anything. But today when we were doing our chemistry project, things got heated up and we ended up kissing," she says looking down to the pillow that is seated on her lap.

"Did you finish your project?" I try to enlighten her mood.

"What? That's all you got out of what I just said? That we were working on our project?" She stares at me with wide eyes.

"I'm just kidding," I laugh and she laughs well.

"Do you regret it though?" I ask her.

"Yes...maybe...no," she mumbles. She sighs and gets up from the bed and starts to pace up and down. "I don't regret it. I just don't want to ruin our friendship."

"I understand. But you don't mind dating him do you?" I ask.
"No."

"Then why don't you?"

"It's not simple."

"Then make it simple."

She sighs and sits on the edge of the bed. "How?" She asks.
"Talk to him," I advice her. "You're right, I'll do it. Thanks, I knew you'll make me feel better," she says as she hugs me.
