Chapter Eleven

"Jamie!" I cringed, my back turned to the dark hair boy chasing me.

"Ethan, I really don't have time." I told him as I tried to leave school the next day.

"Jamie you haven't spoke to me in three days!"

"This is not normal!"

"I'm sorry!"

"I've just been busy."

"Busy? Or ignoring me?" He asked grabbing my arm.

"Ethan!"

He looked at me with big eyes that begged me fore answers, and I could stand staring into them. They made me feel guilty. I still hadn't decided how to tell him about Vanessa.

I kept telling myself I should do it before it's too late, but I couldn't figure out how.

"Jamie!" I turned around to see hunter standing down the pathway.

I turned back to ethan.

"Look I have to go, I'm sorry."

"I'll call you later, I promise." I probably lied, before running towards Hunter in the opposite direction.

I know it was cruel, but I really didn't know what to do.

I would break his heart.

"Still not being honest with Daniel?" Hunter asked as we made out way to my truck.

"i can't/" I shook my head.

"I can't push myself to hurt him like that."

"We're best friends."

"He doesn't see you like that." Hunter shook his head.

"He sees you as girlfriend material."

"So you need to stop seeing him as your best friend for right now, and think of him as someone who's chasing you, who you don't want to chase back."

I frowned.

When did Hunter become so... deep?

"You make so much sense right now, Hunter."

"But I'm just not ready."

"I know." He sighed.

"But you're running out of time."

"Trust me, I'm aware." I huffed, starting my truck, annoyed.

"So what about Vanessa?" Hunter asked me, once we sat in my room, with a beer in his hand.

I frowned.

"What about Vanessa?"

"How are things going to between you two?"

I shrugged.

"I don't know."

"I think we're okay."

"You think?"

I shrugged again.

"I'm not sure."

"Dinner with her family went well, even though her step dad is the cop that arrested me like a month ago." I rolled my eyes.

"Really?!" Hunter laughed.

"Small world." He nodded, his eyebrows raised.

I nodded.

"I don't know, we haven't answered that last question yet."

Hunter looked back and forth, awkwardly.
