Four years later

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. It's a terrible sound if you think about it. And to think I was just dreaming about eating chocolate chip cookies with Theodore from Alvin and the chipmunks.
But that alarm is a reminder that it's time to get back to reality. And today's reality is that it's the first day of school. My first day as a Junior.
I walked into the kitchen to see my mom and brother eating pancakes.
"You finally woke up, your alarm has been going off for ten minutes honey." My Mom said barely glancing at me.
I ignored her comment and grabbed a small pancake, devouring it quickly because I was starving. Mmmm, it tastes like heaven. I finished and put my plate in the sink.
"You better shower fast, looks like you need all the time you have to get looking decent for school." My big brother Toby said while sticking his tongue out at me.
I glared at him. Toby was home from college for the next few weeks. To say he was getting on my nerves would be an understatement. But it's nice having my big brother around the house again, it's been so quiet without him.
I left the kitchen and quickly showered then changed into my outfit for the day- skinny jeans, a graphic t-shirt, and to top it all off my converse. I decided that I looked decent enough and left my room.
Right as I was leaving my phone buzzed.

Jackson: Are u coming yet you take 4ever!

Me: Almost :)

Jackson always picked me up before school and dropped me off after. It became routine for us. I said goodbye to my family quickly and ran outside.
Jackson was already there waiting in his car. He looked bored while scrolling through his phone.
I couldn't help but notice how handsome he looked. His brown hair styled perfectly, a plain grey t-shirt, and some blue jeans completed his look. To most it looked like a casual outfit that any guy could put together. But I knew differently, Jackson texted me at like nine last night asking what he should wear.
To say Jackson has trouble with fashion would be a false statement, he just has trouble getting out of his comfy clothes. That guy pretty much lives in sweatpants.
Jackson looked up when he noticed me coming, he smiled at me. He has such a beautiful smile. His smile goes perfect with his eyes.
I get in the car and Jackson groans, I look at him confused. "I, uh, can't pass this level on Angry Birds, and it's making me mad." He finally stuttered out.
I started laughing at him and soon he was joining in with me. "I think you have a slight obsession with that game, and it's becoming unhealthy." Jackson just rolled his eyes.
The drive to school was quiet unlike usual, only the sound of the radio filled the air. I glanced at Jackson and he looked deep in thought. "What's wrong Jackson?" I asked with a frown on my face.
"Nothing Nat, I'm fine." Jackson said in a monotone voice. He's lying to me. I can tell by the way he won't make eye contact and by the way he's biting his lip.
I felt like I needed to say something more, so I did. "Jackson come on, I know you're lying to me. Just tell me what's wrong, please? Maybe I can help." I said this all gently while smiling.
Jackson looked at me and sighed dramatically. "Stacy dumped me, again." Stacy was Jackson's on again off again girlfriend. They have been dating like that for over a year. And quite frankly I hate Stacy with every bone in my body. So I wasn't the slightest bit upset to hear the news.
"You guys have done this so many times, why are you so upset this time?" I asked him.
It looked like it pained Jackson to say the words. "We're done for real this time Nat. We're no more." He said, while giving me a small sad smile.
And with that we pulled up to school, we got out of the car and as we walked up to the front doors I couldn't be more happy.
