The Hairy Man

"Hey, you guys don't happen to know where the Hairy Man was buried, do you?" Will asked, as we followed them through the woods. I was on my phone, searching for Brent Vos' grave but that didn't go so well, first of all I found nothing on Vos' grave and second of all, the ghost hunters mocked me for texting.

"Nope," the 27 year old said.

"What are your names anyway? If I'm going to be following you around, I'd like to know your names," I said. Growing quite tired of thinking of them based off of how old I think they are.

"I'm Sandy, that's Nihal, that's Ari, and that's Dwayne. He's the leader." The 18 year old said pointing to himself then the 27 year old, the 19, then the 30.

"Good to know," I said and a twig snapped in the distance causing Nihal and Sandy to throw their flashlights at the pour animal.

"How are we going to banish the Hairy Man if we don't know where his bones are?" I asked Will as the happy crew searched the area the twig snap came from.

"Ghosts usually got a weird way to banish them. I just don't know what the Hairy Man's is yet," Will said, he was about to say something else, maybe a theory but the terrified screams coming from the happy crew beat him to it.

Will and I quickly exchanged glances before dashing over to them. They stood, slowly backing away from what I thought was a bear at first, but the slight mist of it hinted that it was a ghost. The Hairy Man.

"Everyone get back!" I yelled, taking the salt out of my bag and throwing some of it at the Hairy Man, he disappeared the moment it hit him.

"Salt?" Sandy asked, I ignored him.

"Looks like you gotta find out how to banish him now. He'll be back soon," I told Will.

"Well I already got an idea, follow me!" Will yelled and started taking off towards the road. I didn't question it and ran after him, the happy crew followed as well. Not so happy about finding the Hairy Man anymore.

Will ran across the road and stood just off of it. I joined him and we waited. Finally understanding what he was thinking, that leaving his area will banish him.

But it's been several minutes and the Hairy Man hasn't shown up. "Where the bell is he?" I asked.

"Down the road, he didn't come out for us," Will said, pointing down the road to a pair of headlights.

"You gotta be fucking kidding me!" I groaned and ran down the road. Flagging down the car until she stopped, looking ticked off.

"What do you want?" She asked.

"Are you related to Micah Schulz?" Will asked, barely even looking at her, he was too busy checking for the Hairy Man.

"Yeah, she's my cousin. Why? What happened to her?" She asked urgently.

"She's hurt, I need you to follow us back to the main road. You go, we'll get in our car," I lied and dashed to the car, Micah's cousin already turned around and was headed in the opposite direction.

I rolled down the windows and took out my salt, hoping that I'd get a good shot at him from the car window.

Suddenly the Hairy Man appeared right in front of Micah's cousin's car, she screamed and swerved off the road, straight into a tree. Will and I pulled off and ran to her car, Will pulled her out of the car and the Hairy Man moved closer, "go! Get her out of here!" I yelled to Will and threw some salt at the Hairy Man. I ran after Will and Micah's cousin, throwing salt at everything that moved.

We stood just off of the road and the Hairy Man stood on the edge of his road, stared at Micah's cousin, then disappeared.

"Looks like you're right, he'll be banished if he leaves his domain. But he's way to smart to just do that," I said as I checked out Micah's cousin's injuries. "I'm gonna get the first aid kit from the car, call Micah."

"My phone's in the car." I sighed and threw him Tulip's extra phone. "Why the hell's it bejeweled?"

"Shut up, it's Tulips extra phone!" I yelled picking up the salt and running back to the woods and got in the car and drove it back to Will, I grabbed the first aid kit and ran over to Will where he just hung up on Micah and handed the phone back to me.

"What did she say?" I asked, patching up a gash on Micah's cousin's forehead.

"She's on her way," Will said and the phone started to ring, "who's that?"

"Tulip, it can wait. She's just worried about me for no reason," I said, ignoring the phone and continuing to patch Micah's cousin up.

"Answer it, we don't need your friend watching our every move if you don't answer the phone," Will said and took the bandages from me so I could answer the phone.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hey Liz, how's Texas?"

"Honestly, not very exciting," I laughed as I lied. "How's Wyoming?"

"Exactly like how you left it. When will you be back?"

"In a couple days probably."

"I thought you were just going up for Will's friend's uncle's funeral?"

"I am, but Will's friend's cousin just got in a car accident, Will wants to make sure everyone's okay."

"Aw, is the cousin okay?" Tulip asked and I looked down at Micah's cousin.

"Unconscious, but breathing. She'll be okay."

"Liz! Will! What the hell is going on!?!" Dwayne yelled at the top of his lungs, as the happy crew marched over to us.

"Who's that?" Tulip asked. Shit.

"No one, I gotta go," I said.

"What? No, tell me what's going on!"

"I'll call you in the morning, tell you all about it, promise. Bye!" I said and quickly hung up before Tulip could hear anything the happy crew had to say.

"Why could we see him without night vision googles?" Ari asked.

"Why did salt make him leave?" Nihal asked.

"Why didn't he attack us but attacked her?" Sandy asked.

"Listen, you don't know half as much as we do about ghosts. Let us do our thing," I said, pointing some bandages at them the wrapped them around Micah's cousin's knee once the happy crew nodded.

Soon enough, an ambulance and a cop car followed by a couple of regular cars rolled in. "You four better not sat squat about a ghost," Will said letting a knife be shown, just to scare them. They nodded and gulped and Will and I backed off so the paramedics could bring Micah's cousin to the ambulance.

"Alright you six, what happened?" A officer asked.

"We were driving down the road when we saw a homeless man jump in front of her car, she swerved and hit a tree. We got her out and brought her back to our car since we have a first aid kit," I explained and left to talk to Micah and her family while the boys told the cop what they saw, aka almost the exact thing I said.

"Thank you so much for saving my daughter," some crying woman said, hugging me tight enough for my bones to snap in half.

"It's no problem, what's her name?" I asked, trying my best to be polite.

"Margaret," Micah said, "where's the man?"

"In the woods somewhere, but don't worry. We'll find him," I said nodding to Micah.

The family all crammed themselves inside the ambulance and the police followed. The happy crew left too so it was just Will and I, and hopefully not the Hairy Man.

"So? How are we going to lure the Hairy Man out here?" I asked Will.

"I can only think of one way but I don't like it."

"What?"

"Use Micah's family as bait."
