Chapter 7 - The bet

Alec POV

I woke to see Clary sleeping on my chest. I checked the time and it said 3:00am, i still had a few more hours till we had to get up for school. I gently brushed her hair out of her face but she flinched and woke up immediately scrambling out of bed

I looked at her face and she looked terrified. "Clary I'm so sorry"

"Its okay I just thought you were...you were..."

"Sam" I said quietly and she nodded. I quickly climbed out of bed and walked over to her but kept my distance so she wasn't scared.

"He always used to pull my hair and say its so red because I'm a horrible person who deserves to be in hell" she said quietly

I walked towards her and stuck my hand out offering for her to take it. She looked hesitant at first but then gently put her hand in mine and walked closer to me. She put her arms and head on my chest and I wrapped my arms around her as she was only wearing a t shirt and shorts.

"You're so cold" I say and she buried herself in my chest more.

I pulled away slightly took my long sleeved shirt off and gave it to her.

She pulled it over her head but got her arm stuck and fumbled around.

I laughed a little and helped her put it on properly. It was too big for her but she looked cute in it.

"Better?" I say and she nodded. She looked up at me and then back down at my chest as I was now shirtless. I leaned down and whispered "its rude to stare you know" in her ear and she  quickly looked up at me blushing furiously.

I laughed a little before taking her hand and pulling her back into bed with me

"Sleep Clary" I said as she snuggled into me again

"Alec" she whispered

"Hmm?" I replied as my eyes were already closed with my arms wrapped around her

"Thank you" she said

I opened my eyes.

"For what?" I asked

"Not being freaked out by my story or running off and for you know making me feel normal... human"

I sat up a little and lifted her head up so her eyes met mine

"You are human Clary, you are brave and smart and beautiful and a badass and anyone that makes you feel like less is not worth your time. Everything Sam said about you was wrong. It was a lie, you are one of the most amazing people I know Clary and its only been a few weeks yet I have never so happy as when I'm with you" I said

She smiled at me and I could tell it was genuine when she leaned forward and kissed me snaking her arms around my neck. I kissed back and ran my fingers through her hair.

She pulled back startled and I was confused until I realised what I had done. My fingers in her hair felt like Sam dragging her away.

"Clary I'm sorry" I said and she smiled at me

"Its okay, i think I'm getting used to it" she said and kissed me again.

I smiled back as she rested her head in the crook of my neck and we both fell asleep.

Clary POV

I woke up a few hours later with Alec holding me tightly and I smiled. He kept apologizing for accidentally running his hair through my hair but I actually quite liked it now.

I looked up at him as he opened his bright blue eyes but he couldn't see because his hair had flopped into his face. I pushed his midnight black hair back so he could see and he kissed my forehead. He was about to speak when a voice called out

"Clary are you up?" I heard Jon call and I suddenly put my hand over Alec's mouth.

"Yeah I'm getting ready" I called back

"Do you know where Alec's gone he isn't in his room?"

I looked back at Alec and shouted "he left early to get some studying done"

"OK" Jon replied and I heard footsteps walk away from my room

I breathed a sigh of relief but forgot my hand was still over Alec's mouth and he licked my hand

"Eww" I said smiling and wiping my hand on his shirt which I was still wearing.

"Well I need to breathe and you wouldn't let me" Alec said flipping us over so he was now lying on top of me. I gazed into his eyes and i could feel Alec's breath on my neck.

"Well what are you going to do to me?" I said teasingly as Alec gave me a seductive smile. He leaned in and kissed me and started moving towards neck planting little kisses along it. I melted into his embrace as he pulled away and looked up at me.

"You better remember that because I'm not kissing you again until tomorrow as payback" Alec said smirking

"WHAT" i whisper shouted at Alec and he sat up crossing his arms

I gave him a glare before saying "I bet that you will kiss me before tomorrow you can't survive that long" I said crossing my arms which was hard because I was still underneath Alec.

"Oh really" he said "okay if I kiss you before tomorrow then I will do anything you say, but if you kiss me before tomorrow then you have to do what I say" he said

"Deal?" I said and he nodded.

"Now hurry up school starts soon"

"Well I'm already supposed to be at school what am I going to do?" He said and I remembered I had told Jon Alec had left early

"Get changed and meet me outside in 10 minutes, I'll say I'm leaving early to get some work done and then you can ride with me on my motorbike" I said and he nodded.
