What is but cannot Be.

He's three teeth the size of biscuit crumbs that the doctor let us see.

What is but cannot Be.

He grew but we couldn't take him home, and just had to leave him in the hospital. Alone.

What is but cannot Be.

In some physical ways we never lost our child.

We had some parts and some papers filed.

What is but cannot Be.

But we both know we'll never hear him laugh. Never give him his first bubble bath.

We'll never see his bright hair curls. We'll never take him to Disneyworld.

And I will never be a mum. Not to three teeth the size of biscuit crumbs.

What is but cannot be.
