'We're like sisters.'

The phrase kept replaying over and over in his head like someone ringing a bell making his head hurt.

He knew they had an agreement, knew that this was better in the long run for them. They were young, at the pinnacle of their career, neither of the two had time for a relationship that was serious.

But it wasn't what he wanted.

He wanted the mornings spent in bed drinking coffee together. He wanted to actually be able to tell people how much he loved this man. He wanted date nights and flowers, all the cliche things.

But as he watched the man he knew he'd always love leave their house for another date, he knew he'd have to settle.
