Chapter 1:

Clove :

So here I am dusting of my knees again. Only this time I'm 15 not 5. The only reason I fell is because of him. I wasn't concentrating, he's so... Mesmerising. Only now I feel weak, and I must not let it show. I'm going to be District 2s female volunteer, I can't be weak. Ever. I bet I looked stupid, running around this track falling over, all because I was looking at Cato throwing a spear. With such precision at that. I've never properly spoke to him before, although he does no I exist. I think. CLOVE WILL YOU STOP GOING LITERALLY HEAD OVER HEELS FOR THIS BOY, AND PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR TRAINING ! I listen to my conscious because I know that being unfocused for one minute could be the difference between life and death.

Cato:

Concentrated. Still. Deadly. As I take another spear from the rack and move over to throw it. I'm the best at throwing spears here at the local training centre in District 2. Concentrate Cato, Concentrate. I take my place at the red circle in which I always stand to throw. I take back my hand and position myself to throw.

"Urrgh." I hear from behind me.

Don't let it put you off Cato. But i can't help but turn around to see what happened. There she is. Falling over. Little Clove. She's so cute I can't help but smile, then I turn around and throw. Perfect shot straight in the bullseye. God you can be so unfocused some time Cato ! Your going to volunteer for god's sake, pay attention more to what your doing! But truth is I just can't help myself around Clove, shes so... beautiful. With her long, dark hair that flows perfectly down her back. And her eyes that are a mixture of blue and green, so mesmerising. Although I bet Clove barley knows i exist, but i still remember that day we first met.

...Back at the training centre a few years ago, when she threw a knife just as i walked by. She almost hit me, so I told her "Watch it, Knifegirl" in a playful way, then she said in an arrogant manner, "Well you should watch where your going then, Swordboy shouln't you?" Although she said it arrogantly, I couldn't help but notice the little smile forming on her petite face as i walked away, mind you I couldn't help but smile either...

I take another spear from the rack and throw it again. Hitting bullseye. As always.
