Pops Maellard is a character in the Cartoon Network kids show Regular Show. He is a pink, lollipop-esque man (or so many assumed) who stands at about 6 feet tall, the same height as one of the main characters, Mordecai.
(pops at the end of season 8 episode "dream warrior")
Pops is considered the deuteragonist (the second main character in a drama (???)) of the show by the wikia of Regular Show (regularshow.wikia.com).
Many consider Pops's overall personality to be bubbly, extroverted, and extremely friendly and empathetic. Like your favorite kids show character (think care bears, my little pony, etc.) Pops is one who brings some sort of positivity to anyone.
(pops in "prank callers", season 1 episode 9 where mordecai and rigby are taken to the 80's)
Pops is fairly unnoticed in terms of characters episodes are centered on. Mordecai and Rigby obviously get the most attention, they're the damn protagonists. Then comes Benson, their boss, who is basically "equal" (actually lower) to Pops. After that, we have Muscle Man and High Five Ghost, Muscle Man's friend, then the cute pink man. (this isn't counting love interests or Thomas since he wasn't there the whole time 😞)
(for whatever reason, pops is never in the same area if the park crew is in a crowd.)
Being empathetic means you're sensitive to everyone's issues and you want to help everyone. However, since Pops is a bleeding heart, stubborn nearly to the point of death, and naïve in a child-like, blissfully ignorant way, being empathetic is something that has the potential to wreak havoc on Pops's mental health.
(i kept the captions when screenshotting Pops's mental breakdown because I had it on mute to keep myself from getting distracted by the noise.)
This is what I have spent months researching, gathering evidence from episodes and screenshotting innumerable amounts of facial expressions and body language, Since around March-April 2017, I began to question whether the people who said Pops was crazy were right, or if not right, were onto something.
