"Tell me what happened today, from the beginning."

"They, uh, dragged me to the side of the school, where there was no one around."

"Then what happened?"

"They punched me until I fell to the, uhm, ground. I couldn't breathe."

"And after that?"

"I don't remember for how long, but they started kicking me, a lot, while I laid on the ground."

"Anything else?"

"They said 'We'll see you next time, bitch,' and then they left."

"Have they ever done something like this or worse before?"

"..."

"Arthur?"

"They tried something once..."

"Can you tell me what happened?"

"They attacked me like they always do... but something different happened."

"What happened?"

"I-It's hard to talk about."

"Arthur, you need to tell us what happened so we can put these guys away."

"...They, uh, pinned me to the ground..."

"..."

"And they started undoing my jeans..."

"Arthur?"

"Yes?"

"Did they rape you?"

"They tried to."

"...What happened?"

"A janitor walked in before they could."

"Did this janitor notify the police?"

"I, uh, convinced him not to."

"Why?"

"I was ashamed. I felt like it was my fault. That they were only doing it to me because I'm gay, so I convinced the janitor to not say anything. But, he's been keeping an eye on me ever since."

"..."

"Can I go now?"

"Sure."

Arthur's POV

I stepped out of the room slowly and breathed in the cool air of the precinct. I had finished giving my recorded testimony and statement, so I was free to go and didn't even have to appear in court.

"Arthur?" A deep voice says from behind me. Alfred. His handsome face is contorted into one of pain and anger.

I lower my gaze shamefully. "You heard, didn't you?" I say quietly as I fold into myself trying to disappear.

"I should kill those bastards for what they did to you," he says softly yet his voice is filled with utter hatred, so much that it baffles me.

I look back at Alfred and find that he's barely containing his anger. His shoulders are tense, his fists and jaw are clenched tightly, and he shakes rigidly as his brow furrows together in a blatant display of emotion. Without thinking, I wrap my arms around him and hug him tightly, smiling as he seems to relax and let the anger dissipate.

"Thank you for caring, Alfred." I whisper into his ear softly, my lips accidentally brushing against his ear. It's been a long time since someone has felt for me rather than simply pitying me. Alfred's reaction pleases me because he doesn't feel sorry for me, he wants justice for me. Besides, I feel like Alfred and I have met before, like, even though I know nothing about him, I know him. It's almost as if we've met in another life.
