"If you ever need me, i'll be there, don't be afraid to ask"
---
"#Lawn is so happening by the end of this year, mark my words," Adam told me as I recited shawn and I's conversation the night before

"Shut up Adam, it's just a few texts," i laughed, putting my phone back into my pocket

"A few texts which will turn into more texts and eventually marriage," he wiggled his eyebrows at me, causing me to laugh even louder

"Stop it! We're just friends. now hurry up, you have to get ready for your date!" i smiled. Adam's second date with Jade was tonight, and since the first one went well he was certain the second one had to be better.

He walked over to his wardrobe and pulled out two different shirts. One was a red and black tartan shirt and the other was plain black with some tiny patterns sewn with black thread. He held them both in front of me as i eyed them,
"Which one?"

"That one. Definitely." i said pointing to the black one. Nodding he took the tartan shirt and placed it back into the wardrobe.

"What trousers? Blue or black jeans?" Even though Adam was a fashion fanatic, he wanted his appearance to be perfect, especially from a girls point of view.

"Is that even a question?" i asked, a serious look plastered on my face as i flicked through the book on his bedside table

"Black. Got it." he took the black jeans from his drawer and turned to look at me, "What do you have against blue jeans anyway? you hate me wearing them, and not to mention your whole drawer is filled with black jeans and missing any sort of vibrant colour."

"Nothing, i just prefer black jeans, in my opinion blue makes you look more washed out, but black makes you look more alive," i shrugged, sitting down on his bed

He blinked at me as if i was insane and took a step closer to me, "you do realize people wear black at funerals right?"

"Yeah. so?"

"So.. Funerals symbol death, so does black." he said it slowly as if i was five years old and couldn't understand him

"Not all the time asshole. Just put on the damn clothes," i ushered him towards his bathroom and closed the door behind him

Taking my phone back out of my pocket, i opened my messages and typed in Shawn's name

To: Shawn Mendes
Does black always symbolize death?

Almost instantly my phone vibrated with his reply

From: Shawn Mendes
No! Who said that?

To: Shawn Mendes
Adam, he thinks because people wear it at funerals that it means death

From: Shawn Mendes
Well then, tell him from me, that i think he should rethink his opinion before i fly back over there and smash his face in

"Adam?!" i shouted at his bathroom door

"Yeah?" he yelled back

"Shawn said you need to change your opinion about the colour black or he'll fly back over here and smash your face in,"

"Tell him i'm not going to because then that means he'll fly back over here but will see your beautiful face and decide not to smash my face in," He shouted from behind the door and i could almost see him smirking as i typed in the reply

To: Shawn Mendes
He said no so that you'll fly back over here and see my beautiful face and decide not to punch him

From: Shawn Mendes
Tell him he's right

My heart fluttered at his words as i locked my phone and took Adams book again. It was titled 'Our Chemical Hearts', and from reading the blurb, it seemed like such a beautiful book. While I flipped through the pages once more, a small card fell out from between the pages.

If you ever need me, i'll be there, don't be afraid to ask

There was no name, no signature, no number, nothing. I had no idea who it came from but i had a pretty good feeling about it.

Just then the bathroom door opened and i threw the paper back into the book as Adam came back into the room. "What do you think?" he smiled, doing a small twirl

"You look ravishing," i smiled at him. He really did, he'd paired the outfit with some plain black converse and styled his hair into his usual messy look. I'm proud to call him my best friend. Not only did he know what to say when the timings right, but he knew how to dress and you can never go wrong with that.

"I've got to go lift her now, are you sure i look okay?" he looked at me longingly as if i was going to tell him i hated how he looked. instead i walked over and embraced him into a tight hug

"You look amazing Addman, you're gonna do great," i smiled

"Thank you Lee, i don't know what i would of done without you," I pulled away from the hug and put my hands on his shoulders

"You would've looked just as amazing,"

"Not just now, i mean always, you've always been by my side, and ill always be grateful for that," he pulled me into another quick hug before grabbing his phone and rushing out of his room, with me on his tail

"Bye Leah!" Adam's mum shouted as I set foot out of the door

"Bye lovely mother!" i replied before Adam shut the door looking at me with a disgusted look

"Lovely mother?" he asked, his face screwing up as if he had just eaten a raw egg, "That's so cringe, never do that again,"

I laughed at him as we walked towards his car, "she is lovely, i love her, she's helped me grow," i shrugged as he swooped into his car while i leaned on the door. Closing the door he rolled the windows down and looked at me with excitement shining throughout his expression

"I'm nervous." he stated, rubbing his hands on his jeans

"You'll do great, i believe in you," i smiled and blew him a kiss, that he caught and placed his hand on his heart

"Feeling much better now, thank you, gotta go but ill ring you after!" he assured as he twisted the key and started the engine

"Ill be waiting!" i shouted, waving as he rolled down the driveway. Stopping at the end he stuck his head out of the window

"Tell Shawny boy that i said he's made the right choice choosing you," he yelled, smiling and ducking his head back into the car. Before i could answer he sped off round the corner to Lola's house.

I have the most amazing best friend in the world.
