I am a confident woman. Really, I am. I am a pretty chill person, and have a pretty great sense of humor. I am intelligent and funny. I have great, and I do mean GREAT hair and I am really good at doing makeup. See i view myself in a positive way, I love myself. Amongst these things previously listed I am also fat. Don't stop reading now though, I am not putting myself down. In today's society that isn't something very many individuals can say. From a young age we are all taught that in order to be beautiful you have to be thin. With the supermodels and the actresses,I mean even most cartoon characters have tiny waistlines. When I was a little girl, much like many little girls do, I wanted to be a ballerina, all I ever wanted to do was to arabesque and brise vole, the problem was that I have been chunky since day one. I always told myself that I couldnt ask if I could take lessons because I am number four of five children and I lived with a single parent. I realize now that I was actually only too scared to ask because ballerinas are thin and beautiful; and lets just face the facts, I am a chunk that was cursed at birth without a graceful bone in my body. I always felt like they would make fun of me for even having the desire to do something that is reserved specially for those with a small enough waist. I only wish that someone would have stopped me and told me that I could be whatever I wanted to be no matter how big I was. I mean really, for a big girl, I can move.
Before we go any further I think now is a good time to point out a few things. The first being that "fat" is NOT an insult. The quicker we can learn that, the happier we will be. I have trained my brain to view the word "fat" just as I would "brunette" or "busty". These words are simply descriptive. No more. No less. Being fat is NOT a bad thing. Now I know what you're thinking: "This is just another twig bitch crying about being fat because she had to move up into a size six" but let me tell you, this I am not. I am on average, a size 15 and I am proud of it. Don't get me wrong, I too used to hate on the girls that cried about moving into yet another single digit size. However, recently I have discovered that her tears when moving to a size six are just as real as mine were when I could no longer squeeze the thunder twins into my size 13 skinny jeans. The idea of "fat" is entirely based on the persons perspective. If you think you are fat, you are, it is as simple as that. This is NOT a negative description though. When I say I am fat the typical response from my friends and family is this "You are not FAT, you are BEAUTIFUL" I never really knew if i should be offended by the fact that they thought i couldn't be both, or just be happy cause they called me beautiful. Regardless of what was going through my head, I would smile and thank them, I mean there really is no use in being scolded for using the F- word. I guess I just never really could fathom the thought of not being fat but instead being beautiful. Really, did they truly believe that you could not be both? or were they just trying to make me feel better? I mean really, the people that would tell me that i am not fat, but instead I am beautiful, they would make fun of people on the street that were my size or barely larger, or they would find "fat pants" in a store and make fun of someone having to buy those. Every single time all i could think about was the fact that they had been lying to make me feel better or they were only being kind about my weight because we were friends.
