Living with DID means you often feel broken, out of place, uncomfortable, scared... etc etc. You never know what the day will bring. You never know if you'll be whole again.
Self acceptance is not easy. In fact, it's one of the hardest things to learn. Everyone can hate themselves to some degree, and from that hatred comes a lot of problems like depression, self harm... you name it. But today someone said something to me that I will never forget.
"Isn't loving your system the same as loving yourself? All of your selves."
They're right, after all. I love all of my alters more than my own family. In that, I realized I love myself.
Sometimes you have to be broken in order to feel whole again.
