Noah sat in the corner of the room, darkness leeching all around him. "Knock, knock," he said softly, tapping his knee. The movement caused little shadows to spurt from beneath his nails.
Colton looked up from his book, sighing, "Who's there?"
"Noah."
"Noah who?" Colton's grey eyes found Noah's amber ones, shining through the smoke of blackness that blanketed him.
"No-ah murderer?"
Colton slammed his book shut. "Noah, that's the worst pun you've come up with yet."
"Yeah, I guess puns just aren't for me." The boy huffed, wiping his cheeks. Black tears stained his pale fingers.
Black on white.
White on black.
Throw in a little red and orange.
And that's Noah.
