The sleep I got that night was horrendous. I stayed awake for an extensive amount of time and couldn’t dream at all. Sadly enough, I had the dreary tune  stuck in my head that was played at my father’s funeral and I honestly couldn’t figure out why. I got to thinking about how disappointed my dad would be in my mom these days. She used to be so loving and free. Now she was tied down to some evil control-freak, who watched her every move. I rue the very day that my mother married that man. I had such violent thoughts toward him, that it wasn’t healthy. My mom hasn’t been happy since her wedding day, three years ago. Not even on her honeymoon, since they got in a fight and he ended up leaving her alone in their house. Ever since that fateful day, my mother has been slightly off, and I hoped to never be like that.

After hours of restless sleep, I finally decided to get up and do something. I had cleaned the bathroom, folded our laundry, and was almost finished washing dishes when Connor walked sleepily into the kitchen.

“What are you doing up so early?” He whispered in my ear, making me scream.

“Don’t scare me like that! I couldn’t sleep so I took the liberty of cleaning your pig sty of a house.”  I slapped his chest, and couldn’t help but notice the way his muscles felt under my skin.

“Aw, Lil, I’m sorry.” He hugged me trying to comfort me. It would have worked too, if he hadn’t of burst out laughing right away.

“You dummy!” I laughed and whipped the soaking towel at his face.

“Oh it is on, like Donkey Kong!” he told me as I laughed at the movie reference. To my pleasure, he had soapy water streaming down his face.  I was too busy making fun of him because of his soapy face, that I didn’t notice the smirk emerge on his lips. As soon as I stopped laughing, he plunged his hands into the sink that was filled with water, and wiped them on my face. I let out a shriek as the warm water dripped down my face. He laughed at me and ran away towards the living room. I took the wet towel from the counter, dipped it into the water, and tiptoed to the doorway. I felt like a spy on a mission, because of my ninja-like movements. I was meticulous to not let him hear me sneak up on him, so I took baby steps. I poked my head around the door and Connor was nowhere to be found. I couldn’t fathom how he got out of the room so fast. It was as if he had disappeared. I cautiously walked down the hallway, heading towards our bedroom. I slipped through the door and looked around. Nobody was in there. Straitening up, I turned towards the door when I heard a faint locking sound.

“Hello there, beautiful.” Connor said in a deep voice. I tried my hardest not to think about how damn hot that was, but I couldn’t deny that nagging in my brain that told me to just give in and look at his glistening, shirtless body. “You’ve been bad, and now you must face the consequences,” he said in a sexy voice. He took me by surprise and wrapped his arms around me, squeezing me so I couldn’t get away. I  thrashed about, trying to get away from his embrace, since I knew he would do something bad. Seeing that he wasn’t doing anything, I looked up at him. His deep blue eyes caught me off guard and I couldn’t help but get lost in them. They were the prettiest shade of blue eyes I'd ever seen. Ever since childhood, I'd been so jelous of his gorgeous blue eyes. Maybe that's the reason just about any guy's blue eyes could make me swoon. But Connor's could make my knees go weak, instantly. I was feeling a little lightheaded, from his sweet breath that was blowing in my face. His face twisted into a painful frown and too soon, he let go. I wasn’t ready to let go of him quite yet. For it had only been a short while and I just wanted him to hold me in his arms.

“We better go and clean up the kitchen.” He whispered, looking at anywhere but at me. Abruptly, he walked out of the room, leaving me dazed and confused. After a few seconds, I followed him to check out the damage. My effort in cleaning the house was a complete and utter failure. The kitchen floor was slippery with water, the dishes were still not clean, and everything was soaking wet. I looked at Connor who was wiping the cabinets with a towel. His back was turned to me. I was suddenly overcome with emotions, watching Connor. I ran back to the bedroom and shut the door. Leaning against the door, I slid down to the floor and let the silent tears stream from my eyes. What had happened to us? Was I feeling something for him, or was it just my raging teenage hormones? One thing is for sure, I love him. I love him as a best friend for always. Maybe something more.
