Trapped.

We are trapped in the ground beneath our feet
Trapped in a killing of colours
Trapped in pain brought only by paper
Trapped in a hatred of lovers.

No trust to fill a freeing key
No happiness for those different
In the land of the short-lived and the broken
Milestones in this lifetime are distant.

There are souls who fight in hope of freedom
Gold-hearted, against hearts of steel
Alas, their vigor will strike no avail
Few isn't enough for us to heal.

Maybe we must fall before we fly,
Break before we soar,
Perhaps breaking point is coming near,
Or is that misery we've already bore?

Maybe we've already broken,
But never managed to lift our feet off the ground.
