                                      Chapter 2

I stirred in sleep. The glitters in my dress scratched against my warm skin making it very uncomfortable to continue my slumber. I blinked a few times before my eyes got adjusted to the sharp lights that I forgot to turn off last night. I finally opened my eyes and winced as the bright sunlight coming through the window burnt them, as I forgot shutting them again as well.

"Self note- never fall asleep again in a glittery tight dress and always shut the god damn window." I mumbled to myself and slowly sat up on the bed with both my legs crossed which was very uncomfortable given the dress was tight around my thighs.

My phone rang making my head pound like it was being hit by a hundred hammers. I uttered a few profanities as I looked for it. Few seconds of torture later, which seemed an hour to me, I finally found it under my pillow."

"Good morning miss Smith." Jennifer greeted from the other side.

"Jennifer, it's Sunday!"

"Sorry Katherine but your father asked me to call you. You have to be here in an hour." Her tone was soft like talking to a baby and not a twenty six year old lady.

"Tell him I can't today." My voice came out croaky and thick with sleep.

"He will have my head for breakfast." She hushed and I assumed my father was standing right beside her.

"Tell her to be here fast. We need to discuss something." I heard my father's voice in the background.

"You heard him." Jennifer said.

A sigh left my lips.

"I will be there." Disconnecting the call I slipped of the bed and went inside the bathroom. After brushing my teeth, I stripped out of my dress and stood in front of the shower. Ten minutes later I washed and cleaned and dressed in black leather jegginngs and a beige strapless top that clinged to my body. I might just go for some shopping afterwards if I'm up already. Keeping my make up minimal just to pink lipsticks and eyeliner, I left my room grabbing my handbag and phone.

Downstairs I searched through the kitchen cabinets for some Tylenol. I sipped them along with some orange juice.

In an hour, I was sitting in my office with my father in front of me. I was here for five minutes already and sipping on my black coffee as my father continued to stare at me without saying a word.

"Okay. That's it!" I put the coffee mug down and straightened my back.

"Have you gotten me get out of my bed and barbied up at...." I looked at my wrist watch to confirm the time. "Nine in the morning on a Sunday to stare at me?"

"Did you get drunk last night again?" he asked eyeing me up and down.

"I can do whatever I want." I huffed.

"Why don't you get married Kat?"

"I did, didn't I father?" I said glaring at him. Trust my father to bring my drowned marriage at the weirdest situations.

"That marriage meant nothing." His voice was stern, void of any emotion. If my father had any emotions it was anger. I wonder how my mother fell in love with him.
