Memories in the 27th Street

(Songetry)

---

songetry

• A "songetry" is a poem intended to be a song, but the writer is the only one who knows the tune or melody of the song, so the reader will see it as an ordinary poem only. (Note: This is just my invention. Just starting a trend. LOL. Ha ha ha ha!)

We used to walk in the 27th Street,

Laughing to every funny story we tell to each other.

I got no problems when I was with you,

And I hope you felt the same way too.

We used to buy ice cream in the store,

And enjoy them while sitting on the pavement of the sidewalk.

We were kids back then,

And those were our memories.

But now, what happened to us?

As time passed by, everything has changed.

All the things we did in the 27th Street,

Now they are just plain old memories.

After school, in the bus,

We used to sit beside each other.

We didn't care if someone ridiculed us,

Said a boy and a girl couldn't be friends together.

And then the bus stopped at the 27th Street,

Near the houses where we lived.

We bid our goodbyes,

And say that we'd see ourselves the next day.

But as time passed by,

We grew older.

The things we used to do,

Now they're gone like a bubble.

We were kids back then,

And now we're not.

I promise that I'll remember—

The memories we have made in the 27th Street.

I promise to find you,

Because I haven't told you one important thing.

This... I can't keep forever—

After all these years, I still love you.
