"He's back! He's back, mum!" The cry rang out over the field. My head whipped up to the child. *Ren pointed to the dusty old road.
The sun shone behind the figure and I covered my eyes from the glare of light. Stalks of wheat whipped around me as I took in the clothes and light hair of the man walking. My basket cluttered to the ground, but I barely noticed. I started to run.
He suddenly stopped and turned. He gave me a sad smile and I leapt forth with a cry. He threw his arms around me and tears of joy fell down my face. I realized that I was mumbling into his shoulder.
"You're home. You're okay. You're home." I repeated again and again until his lips met mine in a quick peck.
"I'm home." He smiled. He kissed me once more and released me to embrace *Ren.
"Daddy!"
