••• Behind Her Mask

40 2 3

She stepped a foot in a grandiose setting
Concealing her face behind the mask she's wearing
All pairs of eyes to her adhered
She can't help but avoid their scrutinizing stares

Callants to her offer their hands
Inviting her for an intimate gracile waltz
Admiration mirrors in their scintillating eyes
Like she's the prettiest woman ever alive

She sloped backward out of reluctance
They were spellbound by her deceitful appearance
If they only knew how awful she was
If they only see the face behind her mask

She refused the hands in front of her
Swerving her self in an anguish manner
Leaving their hands hanging in the air
She couldn't stay there any longer

She ran off the place in the middle of the night
Her gloomy emotion is casting out the light
Why does she have to own a hideous face?
Why does she have to take the curse of the wind?

She cried and beseeched for an answer
Why? She doesn't know either
She took off the mask, touched her scars with trembling hands
Who would embrace her terrible semblance?

But there came a prince like one in those tales
His warm smile is sending her ecstatic chills
In a dash she covered her nasty image
It's a shame to see her piece of wreckage

"You're beautiful," he said
"No, I'm terrible," she answered
His fingers like feathers on her skin
Trailing on her scared face without hesitating

The way he gazes makes her feel at ease
The way he smiles shoves away her fears
Indeed, he's a mighty prince from afar
Who makes her feel so beautiful despite her scars
