One morning I woke up and turned to look at the bag I had quickly packed when I ran away from home a month ago. I had a clean set of clothes, my tatty ted pjs, a hairbrush and my favourite me to you bear from my collection. There was a silver heart shaped locket which had a letter ‘A’ engraved on it hanging around my neck. It was a present off my parents when I was younger. I opened it to reveal a picture of me as a baby in my parent’s arms with my brother.

I felt a tear roll slowly down my cheek. As I had been here for a while now I had learnt how to survive in this environment. I ate food that was dumped in the piles of hopeless rubbish; most of it had hardly been used at all. I drank the rainwater that collected in old bottles at least it was fresh but the taste wasn’t the best.

I was staring in to space in my own little world thinking about my life. When an image appeared in the distance, it ran towards me. It was a very cute looking dog with gorgeous eyes! I stroked him and tickled his belly as he rolled over. I knew he was a boy as he had a brown collar on with a tag saying the name ‘Elvis’ and that’s a boy’s name. Just at that moment I heard a voice shouting the dog’s name.

I saw a guy appear………..he was very good looking!! He walked over to me and stopped in front of me. “I can see you’ve met my dog ‘Elvis’ then, I’m so sorry he’s a pain. He doesn’t normally run off like that!!” the guy said to me.

I smiled “It’s fine I don’t mind, he’s adorable!!” I carried on giving the dog fuss.

“I’m Max by the way” he said looking at me, I could tell he wanted to know my name.

I looked up at him and said “I’m Abbie nice to meet you”.

It was nice to meet and talk to him as I hadn’t seen anyone in ages!! “So what are you doing in a place like this?” he said looking around. I turned away as my eye lids started to burn with tears. He crouched down beside me “Are you alright?” he said sounding concerned.

I hide behind a wall of hair so Max couldn’t see my tears; I didn’t want sympathy from him.

“You are coming home with me as you need care and I’m not leaving you here” he said calmly to me. I tried to ignore him but I couldn’t as he pulled me up off the ground.

“Thank you so much!” I replied through my sadness. As we walked away from what had been my home for the last month, I told Max the full story.

“Oh I’m so sorry, don’t cry I’m going to help you through this” he said giving me a light hug as I was crying my eyes out. We walked into his house I felt like an outsider, intruder, I shouldn’t be here. He showed me round the building

“You can stay here as long as you like!” Max said to me.

“May I use the shower please?” I said hoping for a yes as I hadn’t had a shower for ages so I stank.

“Sure” Max replied showing me the way to the shower.

“Thank you so much for everything” I said as I stepped into the bathroom.

“It’s fine” Max replied, smiling at me. His eyes were glistening in the light; my heart was slowly beginning to melt as Max was lush.

After my shower I got changed into my spare clean set of clothes. It was a tatty ted top and my favourite skinny jeans which were turquoise blue. Max had very kindly put my other clothes in the wash as I has been in them for a month! I walked down the stairs with a towel wrapped round my wet hair. I could smell cooked food, I had missed this! I walked into the kitchen as Max put a bacon butty on the table. My face lit up with a beaming smile spread right the way across it.

“Now that’s the facial expression I like to see” he said as this was the first time I had smiled properly all day. I sat down and stuffed the bacon butty down very fast as I hadn’t had proper food like this for a month.

“Thank you that was delicious!” I said after swallowing my last mouthful.

“It’s fine, anything you need or want just tell me” Max replied smiling “My friends are coming over now to meet you they will be here any minute!”  I suddenly felt very shaky.

“Max you have been very kind and done more than enough for me. I am intruding on your life and don’t belong here” I said as my head become blurred with thoughts.

“Don’t say that, just forgot about it, this is the least I could do for you” Max replied shocked I had even said something like that.
