In His Eyes Chap.2

"Wow, isn't he smart," Micah said sarcastically as he rolled his eyes and got up.

"Where are you going, Micah?"

Micah pointed to the restrooms, "order me the usual, Chris."

Once he left, I turned to Chris and tried hard not to jump over the table and punch him square in the face.

"He's cute, huh?" He gave me a knowing smile and I just shook my head.

"I'm leaving."

Chris grabbed my arm and gripped it hard, "Give him a chance, Dimitri. I didn't know that you were so close-minded."

I scoffed, "Close-minded? Chris, you failed to tell me he was blind. How am I supposed to take this?"

"Come on, D', are you going to let that stop you?"

I chuckled humorlessly and pulled my arm back to lay by my side, "I don't know if I can live with him, Chris," Chris gave me a look that made me clench my jaw, "Stop fucking looking at me like that... what I mean is I don't know what to do or how I would help him, and.... damn, being around a man that attractive would be a little dangerous at the moment."

I leaned forward, wishing that the stir in my pants would die down.

"Seriously, what's stopping you is that your dick got hard at the sight of him? Damn, D', you have to get laid." Chris laughed.

"Enough with the sarcastic shit, Chris, I'm serious."

Chris sighed and leaned back on his seat, "Alright, well medically speaking, Micah isn't blind. I mean, his eyes can see. According to every doctor he has been to, there's nothing wrong with his vision but his brain just doesn't interpret what he sees. He's a medical mystery."

The more Chris told me about Micah, the more curious I got. I glanced towards the restrooms to see if Micah was coming, but there was no sign of him.

"How did Micah..."

"When he was around sixteen, he was in a car accident with his older brother and his friends. Two of his friends survived with only minor scratches. Micah and his brother suffered the most. Axel, Micah's brother, died in the ambulance and Micah lost his sight. But like I told you, he's a medical mystery."

I was quiet as I ponder what Chris had just told me. Maybe the trauma had been too much that Micah's brain blocked all that by taking his sight. I tried to picture myself living without sight and I couldn't. I relied on my eyes when I made pottery, or else it would look like a clump of clay instead of a bowl or a mug.

"So I'm guessing that Chris has told you everything you need to know about me.... perhaps a little more than necessary."

I was brought out of my thoughts by Micah sitting in front of me. I had heard only the last part of what he had said.

"Huh? Oh, yeah," I mumbled trying to sound like I had heard him.

"I told him how you lost your sight, and he's still here. Doesn't that tell you something?" Chris butted in.

"Yea, it tells me that he's curious about how I've survived this long."

We were quiet for a couple of minutes before Micah said, "So what do you do for a living?"
