Poem 93 - Autumn's Roots

I never wanted to harm you,

I thought this would hurt less in the end,

You didn't know me well enough,

I could not trust your words,

You had only seen my brighter sides,

You had not yet been consumed by my darkness,

And I didn't want you to know what lied within me,

I thought I could run away before you ever started chasing,

I thought I could take it all back,

But now I see it wasn't that simple,

The sight of you still reminds me of my mistakes,

And I am so very sorry that I hurt you,

But you had fallen in love with my petals not my roots,

And I feared what would happen upon Autumn's arrival,

When the flower will have wilted and gone.
