"Thanks," Marissa said with a bright, sophisticated smile as I handed back her son.

Noah bounced up and down and sang, 'Aunty Katie, Aunty Katie!' I laughed at his antics. When he was like this he was actually a pretty cute kid. I noticed how his dimples on the bottoms of his cheeks showed whenever he was happy.

"Sorry that I forgot about having to take care of him," Derek said with a sheepish smile.

"It's okay, just remember to check the schedule next time," Marissa said as she clutched Noah's tiny hand in her own.

Derek rubbed the back of his head uncomfortably, "Yes I will. And sorry again, it's just that I've been so busy with all this wedding planning and everything. Anyway, I totally forgot but I won't next time."

"Yeah of course for sure-" She began.

"Well! Isn't this such a lovely scene! Derek's fiancée meeting his ex-girlfriend and kid who calls him 'daddy'," The voice sneered and loudly clapped.

All three of our heads turned to see the woman I loathed more than anything else in the world.

Evelyn brushed back her shiny, glossy brunette locks and smoothed out her skin-tight, tiny dress. Her eyes flashed with excitement and she glanced between us, as if a showdown between Marissa and I was about to take place.

I folded my arms over my chest and Marissa's eyes narrowed with irritation.

"What do you want Evelyn?" I practically snarled.

The contracts were over when Josh agreed to spend time with her. So I didn't know why I was having to put up with her presence.

She smirked at me and then smoothly glazed her eyes over Marissa.
"Should I get a camera before you two start battling it out?"

"Cut the crap, Eve. Tell us what you want and then be on your way," Derek said sternly.

Marissa looked at her long and hard, "I'm sorry, who are you?"

She smiled graciously, "An old friend, you could say," and then she laughed, "And Derek, those are some harsh words towards someone who practically handed you your bride-to-be on a silver platter."

She adjusted her petite Coach messenger bag over her shoulder.

I glared at her, "Whatever you think you did is certainly a wrong assumption. Derek was the one who wanted to be with me and it didn't matter how," I smiled up at him, "That's true love."

Derek's eyes crinkled into a smile and he entwined his hand in mine. A rush of warmth climbed up my skin from where he touched me. The heat felt like a fire when he made contact.

Evelyn made a puking noise, "Ew. You guys are so gross. Remind me to buy a barf bag the next time I decide to visit."

"Remind yourself to never come back in the first place," I said smoothly and became satisfied when Evelyn shot me a furious look.

"Fine. I'll leave, but then you won't get to hear what happened to your precious Liliane," She said, with her head held high she turned to go.

At lightning speed Derek was behind her and grabbed her arm. He looked frantic. I had seen that look before. It was the same look he'd had on when he was back in Salt Lake City to look for his sister as a troubled teen.

Evelyn smirked, "I thought you wanted me to leave," She said innocently.

"Please," Derek pleaded, "I have to know. What happened to her?"

She crossed her arms over her chest and raised a brow, "Why should I? What's in it for me?"

"You wouldn't have travelled all the way to this part of the city if you didn't plan on telling us. So spill, now," I stepped in with a harsh gaze.
