I roll my eyes, "You calling me independant and 'sweet girlfriend' won't make me get our of this car."
He groans loudly and kicks a rock, frustrated.
"Just so you know," I add, caching his attention. "You could've gotten me to step out with those two things,"
"What?!" He screeches, throwing his hands abovehis head. "So why the hell are you still in the car, Riley?!"
"But," I continue. "you added 'short temper' so, no."
He was losing his patient with me. I could see it in the way he was trying not to pace back and forth outside my door. Also, the thin line between his eyebrows on his forehead told me he was getting pissed. It didn't show that much, if it would'veI would have been in big trouble. I remember the day Lucas fought with Charlie on the school gard underneath the big tree. Charlie had approached me after I had ran out of the school, hyperventilated after seeing Lucas and Missy in the janitor's closet.
Lucas had approached us while we were speaking. He was angry and that's when I noticed that thin line on his forehead showing, right between his eyebrows. He was pissed off at poor Charlie. I'm still not sure why he holds such a strong grudge on Charlie. He is a nice and decent guy. If it wasn't for Charlie, I wouldn't have ran after Lucas after he beat Charlie up. If it wasn't for him, I would never have really accpeted the fact that I'm in love with a dark knight instead of the prince on a white horse.
He has been helping me a lot. Talking to me about my problems and getting to know me. Ever since that day when he was laying on the ground, arms clutching his stomach because of the pain Lucas caused him, I haven't seen or spoken to him. I miss talking to him. I have a strong feeling we would come really close.
I hear footsteps on the outside of the car and I swiftly turn my head to the side only to see....nothing. And with nothing, I don't mean Lucas. With nothing I mean literally nothing. No Lucas even.
I start lockig around from the window. Nothing. Where did he go?
I must've spaced off and he lost all his patient and walked away to calm down.
I heave a sigh, "Oh, Lucas." I was getting a little shaken up. It wasn't the best feeling, to sit in a car in the middle of nowhere and if something did jump up I didn't have Lucas near me to protect me.
I inhale deeply and slowly I open the door. Stepping outside, I look to my left, right and front just in case soemthing decides to jump out of nowhere. When my feet touch the ground I can't help but while quietly for myself.
"Okay, Riley, you can do this..." I say to myself, making my way to my right.
"Lucas?" I whisper-yell out his name in hope of him calling me back.
Nothing.
"Ugh," I whine. "Come on, Lucas, this isn't funny!"
Still, no respon.
"Lucas?" I call out, keeping my shaking hands infront of me. "Please, Lucas, where are you?"
He didn't show up and he didn't answer me.
I start breathing heavily, the panic getting to me with every step I took. Ever since I was a little girl, around the age of five-seven, I've always been scared of darkness. Not the kind of darkness you see when you're in your room and all the lights are off. That was safe darkness because I knew my family was there if anything happened. But something about walking around this empty road in the darkness made me feel uncomfortable and scared.
I remember the time I first became scared of such darkness. I was at the park with my mom and dad. Mom was pregnant with Auggie and it wasn't that long until she was going to give birth to my little brother. But they took me out one autumn night to a park a few blocks away from our apartment. We played and I swung on the swings and we laughed. But then they asked if I wanted to play hide and seek. Of course, in the age I was I said yes to any sort of games.
