My Only Regret

My Only Regret

It was a perfect night

couldn't have gone any better

I like to close my eyes

just so I can remember

the look on your face

when you knew that you were flirting

and you knew I knew it too

and none of it was hurting

anybody else

it was just you and me playing

then you ran inside

and came out with a big surprise -

a hug for me!

and then we ran outside

under the moonlight

and you gazed into my eyes

and leaned forward, slowly, for the first time,

but I was scared

and I saw it coming

and I wasn't ready

And I turned away

and ran home and cried

ant tonight

as I dry my eyes

I realize

that the only thing I regret about that night

was what I didn't do....
