A Dozen White Roses
One for the love in your eyes
Two for that fateful night
When you held my hand
And asked me to dance
An my heart spread its wings and took flight
Three for the dozen kisses or so
Four for your warm embrace
When under the twilight
Stars lit up the night
And we held each other through the blaze
Five for that beautiful smile of yours
Six for your gorgeous eyes
When you gaze at me all night
And the wrongs become right
And like raindrops falling, falls the ice
Seven for all the gifts that you sent
Eight for the memories
After all these years
And too many tears
It's you that I still try to please
Nine for every last glass of wine
Ten for that bottle of gin
The liquor was fun
But when all's said and done
It was you who took my heart in
Eleven for the days that felt like heaven
Twelve for the days like hell
A dozen white roses, each one in its prime -
These for our life spent so well.
