Three weeks had passed by with Sofia engrossed in her university projects and Xander trying to figure out about Alexie Ivanshov. Things were going good and for the first time Sofia wondered if they were wrong about everything and maybe there was no Alexie at all. Things were quiet just the way they had been before.

There was no news from the supposed mafia group, no threats and nothing out of ordinary. Sofia had been wanting to talk to her mother about her ex husband but she couldn't bring herself to do so because all her life she had been kept in dark. Never had her parents ever mentioned that her mother was married before.

Sofia knew that Yamina was a convert muslim, her mother told her stories about the time when she converted and now when Sofia thought about it - she could remember the pain and hurt in her mother's voice. She needed to talk to her mother and clear things between them.

Sofia was mad at Salaar too, he had hid it from her very well and he had the gall to look distressed when Sofia learned about all this drama. Her life was a soap opera. But she could compensate her anger for Salaar because he was getting married the next day. The ceremony would be extremely private and security will be tight.

Only close friends and family were invited, not even business associates and Sofia was glad that there won't be a huge crowd to face. Sikandar didn't want any paps hounding their house like it had happened in Sofia's wedding and there would be no phones allowed in the hall and no photographers except for the professionals that Salaar had hired himself.

She had met her brother yesterday and as much as he was enthusiastic, he was a nervous wreck. The whole evening he spent inside his room, pacing back and forth then biting his nails and then talking nonsense with Sofia. And to say that it had been amusing won't be overstatement.

Her and Xander had also been busy with the wedding preparations, well - she had been busy not Xander. He just ordered his secretary to select a suit for him and he will be present at the ceremony whereas Sofia had been on several shopping sprees with her friend. She would have been mad at him but she couldn't because he was already under so much stress and worried about Alexie because of Salah.

Now, as Sofia sat in her room applying lemon juice on her arms and feet to smooth her skin, she heard her phone ringing. Sofia moved her head with great difficulty due to the charcoal mask on her face and picked up the phone with her thumb and index finger. She opened the text message and sighed at its contents,

//I will be late tonight...will be back at perhaps 2.30. Don't wait up for me and don't worry. Good night. X//

Now Sofia couldn't help but frown at the text. It had been like this for past few days and she was worried about Xander's health. He was tiring himself too much and she wouldn't be surprised if he got sick.

Last week his sugar level had gotten low and he could barely get the words out of his mouth as he conversed with her. His eyes had been dropping and when Sofia saw the light trembling of his fingers and shiver in his voice, she almost burst in to tears and called Mrs. Gilbert to ask what to do.

The old lady had been calm and advised her to feed him something sweet and then he should eat proper meal. Sofia remembered having a chocolate bar in her bag so she rushed to it and fed it to almost fainting Xander. By the time he was stable, she had lost all the blood from her face and looked like a ghost.

Xander had given her a smile and told her that he was okay and she needed not to worry. Sofia dragged him to their room from his office and forcefully fed him the proper healthy dinner and then lectured him for an entire hour all the while receiving amusing smirks from Xander and something she couldn't forget, "Well if we slept together I wouldn't have gotten sick."
